Two weeks ago I ordered some trainers from No Bull a retailer I had purchased from previously, there was something significantly different this time around. They changed their delivery partner, I was just looking through my email to see if I could find who they previously used, but couldn't identify anything definitively. More than likely it was one of the big three, USPS, FedEx or UPS. Trust, over the years I have all but come to blows with these delivery services, consistently for the same thing, not actually attempting delivery, particularly when over the last twenty years or so I have been my Black ass at home. Little is more frustrating than when you are waiting for a package, in the place you're supposed to be, at home, and no one attempts to deliver the package. My blood pressure has been raised on numerous occasions over this repeated issue.
Curiously as the entire country has move more and more online specifically with purchasing things, my relationship to the big three eased. For example I can't remember the last time I actually had to go the the post office to pick up a package, with the delivery slips I can usually just schedule a redelivery, but the thing is I think the attitude has changed, and USPS just wants to get the packages to their destination. UPS now has access points that divert your packages to an alternative location for you to pick up at your leisure. My access point is across the street at the pharmacy which I have actually designated my preferred place to drop things off, even though I am always home.
FedEx started instituting photos of the delivered packages, and I can't think of anything more brilliant. Albeit AI images are a thing I don't think anyone is getting AI-doctored photos of delivered packages. I said all of this to say, I was good with the big three, we had gotten down in the dirt, clocked a lot of phone time, but finally got to a good place in our relationship.
Here comes onCrack, no that's not really their name, it's just how I feel about their services. Working with them was the singular most frustrating thing I have done in recent months, and frankly they weren't my choice. As No Bull said they had been around since '15, eleven years, good for them and I am sure as they had greater successes, they wanted to reduce their overhead as to keep more profit in their pockets. Trust me, I get it, I am all for making more money if you've earned it from putting out a good product. And for me they did have a great product, so much so I was about to purchase my fourth pair.
I can remember the first ones I bought I think sometime back in '21, I am not sure where I discovered them possibly on Instagram, low key I was a IG eCommerce fiend, clicking on and buying any and everything that tickled my fancy. The first ones I bought were this golden maize yellow, and were the official trainers of my '21 Sabbatical. When I travel I only take one bag a carry-on, and usually a single pair of shoes, the ones I am wearing, and the No Bulls were not only comfortable but complimented the golden colored top I wore, which was a part of my travel outfit. Yes, I have travel outfits, clothes that look nice enough but are adaptable to the different climate conditions you encounter while traveling, cold airplanes, or warm waiting areas, my looks are meant to be modular enough to cope with any and all situations.
The next time I went back to No Bull I was attempting to repeat the magic of my first purchase, and get the similar color I copped before. But they didn't have it. It seemed NB did sort of limited runs of shoes and once they were out of particular SKUs they were on to the next. So I bought two pairs this time, this sort of fluorescent orange pair and this bright red pair, that was back in '22, I spent $368 according to my PayPal email confirmation. I don't think I mentioned this but the base price for No Bulls shoes was $150, they sometimes had sales or discounts, and the price would drop below this, but that was the average starting point. A little higher than your standard sneaker price, high enough to make them premium, but not vintage or exclusive.
I put in an order on July 22, and sort of went on about my day. I think I had just thrown away the two pairs I had bought in '22, which I didn't really start wearing until like '24 when I started my regular walks around the park. And for those two years they were great, durable, bright and reflective and they stayed relatively clean. That is until my walking pattern changed, and I moved from the paved road around the park to the open lawns and back routes, this change was made so I could do my morning stroll completely naked, and unobserved. But this also meant crossing wet grass, encountering muddy areas and forging large puddles, after two years, along with the natural smells of me wearing the trainers sans socks, they begin to smell. And I attempted to alleviate the odors with baking soda, Lysol and just some Meyer's cleaners, but nothing was working, so I had to throw them out.
This is why I was even buying trainers in the first place, because I had worn out the last two pairs and needed a replacement. This is wear the drama starts.
Unbeknownst to me No Bull was utilizing a new shipping provider OnTrac, which was two companies one of which was Lasership I had become familiar with Lasership because of the notorious drop-shippers on eBay, and frankly I hated them, they were all trying to be Bezos company, but always falling short. You usually ended up getting the package way before the tracking information actually worked, and I hated that. I had no way of knowing I was about to take a long and winding trip in the attempts to get this package.
First the goal post kept moving, I think these are all the delivery dates I was given:
• Friday, July 31st
• Saturday July 25th
• Thursday, July 30th
• Tuesday, July 28th
Yes, you read correctly, there was one date that skipped ahead to the next week, I was so confused I didn't have a clue when this package was coming, and I was over it. Particularly because on Saturday, I got an update via OnCrack that the driver had attempted delivery, and I was like WTF, I have been home all day particularly around 2pm when he said he made an attempt.
But the thicken plots, because to my chagrin we now have an app that we get door bell rings through, and anyone just ringing my bell is automatically photographed. As I told the representative from No Bull the driver was attempting to gaslight me, because no one stopped by. I had also recalled the detail that it said in the update that the business was closed. I am not a business, I may be about my business, but this is a residence up in here, and the apartment number, clearly listed, as a part of the address says so.
Then I was told dead ass the next delivery attempt would be on Tuesday, not Monday, Tuesday. The entire fuck! I was so done, I told No Bull I wanted my money back. They couldn't comply, so I filed a complaint with PayPal and they issued me a temporary refund of the full amount, while they investigated my dispute. Now somebody rang my bell on the 28th, but in the photos all I can see is USPS and Amazon people, I am guessing OnTrac would be in plain clothes, I don't know, I had never heard of the company before. I didn't answer the ring on the 28th, because I had refused the delivery, telling No Bull as much. Curiously the next notification I received said the package was delivered. You can't imagine the cognitive dissonance I was having, the gaslighting was real. I had walked past the spot in the lobby the next morning and there weren't any packages. From what I could tell it had been at least four days since anyone in the building got a package. I was starting to think I was not seeing something that was clearly there, but I wasn't, there was NO PACKAGE!
The package was delivered alright but not in Brooklyn - Woodhaven, NY, US • Jul 28, 7:25pm
I was talking with dumb ass Margaret from OnTrac who was like, oh the package has been delivered, if you have any issues speak with the shipper, I sent her a screenshot of their own tracking information and said YooHoo Margaret, I don't live in Woodhaven! Fucking idiots. I was so done, I was completely worn out by the sheer gross incompetence. How could anyone actually be using this service to do anything?
So colored me surprise when I was going out for my walk this morning and see a package from No Bull, I was like, I thought that was in Woodhaven. When I got back from my walk there was a notification on my tablet that said my case with PayPal has been closed, and they had decided in my favor and the temporary refund was now permanent and completely mines. I felt with all this strife, I had earned these damned trainers, fuck-A-No Bull for putting profits before quality, as I said to them, I am sure I am not the only former customer who had an issue with OnCrack.
You know what who cares I have a brand new pair of trainers for free, and I dare anyone to say different.

I ordered a new camera charger, because I lost the other one for my precious D3000. I ordered it on November 24th, then ordered a phone right after that from the same carrier, which got here two days ago. I have sat patiently waiting since. So, today, I go to check up on its delivery status, and it tells me a delivery has been "attempted", this morning at 8:07. The real kicker, though? Their arrival in my town, a very small place, was reported at 6:55... so this fucker sat around for an hour, an HOUR, presumably outside of the post office, and smoking a bowl or some shit, probably drooling all over his own feet, and most likely all over MY charger.
