So I saw Bandstand again today, and a few cool things occurred. First, I was a little disappointed that the audience reaction after Welcome Home was nothing special, no different from any of the other songs. I mean. The first time I saw the show, the song got a 90 second standing ovation. And today... nope. The show is, however, just as amazing.
Another disappointment: At the stage door, Laura came out and signed for a while. Her last signature before turning around and going back inside? Was the person next to me. Geoff also stopped at that same person. The worst part of this was the fact that i wanted the entire Donny Nova Band to sign my Papermill program and I also brought my Bonnie & Clyde playbill to have signed by Laura. So I’m a little bummed that they didn’t go for just a bit longer, but I certainly can’t hold it against them.
On the other side, though, each of the other guys was just thrilled to see the Papermill program. They all had great reactions when I handed it over. And the best? When Brandon saw me in line, he stopped, gave me a big smile, pointed straight at me, and yells out “HEY! You’re back!” That was completely unexpected, given that he wasn’t even on last time I was there (I had Matt Cusack as Davy). But it made me feel really great. Unless he thought I was somebody else LOL
Next time I’ll be here is closing, which is sad. Unless TDF offers matinee tickets, which they so rarely do. But let’s hope for it, because I’d love to come again before the last show
