ATSF 3751 Blowdown @ Amtrak Redondo, LA, CA 09.22.2024 (6/7)
Your State and Federal tax dollars at work!
(preserving a working Amtrak roundhouse and turntable at Redondo Junction alongside the cinema-famous concrete-lined LA River. Way back in 1914, the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe built a 25-track roundhouse here to service trains. The railway turntable is their 120-foot through plate girder design. Although there have been many changes over the 110 years, the Santa Fe legacy remains in daily use thanks to Amtrak! It is of course the home of ATSF 3751 4-8-4 Baldwin Heavy Mountain.)
