Isobel Ó Cuinn is missing.

Reedlow High School is tearing itself apart, carefully-separated groups bleeding together in grief, in terror, in fear that they will be next. Ten years after the head of the Donadieu coven was murdered by an Acerbi, tentative peace is formed between students, united against a greater threat, to the great displeasure of Winona Finch’s parents.

Vampires can hold grudges for quite some time, as Winona has gathered; Sage St Clair knows this too, has seen how it turned her mother into a hardened shell of bitter anger. As daughters of coven leaders, they see how important these grudges are to their people, who have lost many to the centuries-long disagreement between covens. 

But somebody is demanding they work together, leaving them a breadcrumb trail of clues, ingredient lists, and rituals to be performed for the safe return of their friend. Polar opposites, the girls resist as much as possible, but fate has a funny way of drawing people together. Between sneaking around in secret and searching for truth, Winona and Sage discover that the disappearance isn’t what it seems to be.
