Instead of never finishing hl2, how about playing hl2 through garrys mod?
Last time I tried to do that, which was YEARS ago, I remember there were a few problems that meant you couldn’t advance beyond certain points without just skipping to the next map.
I remember explicitly you couldn’t put the plug from the Kleiner lab teleporter back into the socket, but I remember Garry mentioned something about fixing small inconsistencies like that.
But hell yeah I’d replay Half-Life 2 in Garry’s Mod now.
