Being a member of SG-1 wasn’t exactly easy, and he was pretty sure it was the same thing with AR-1. It was the kind job where literally no two days were the same, however it was kinda odd being the only non-military person on a team. He’d hoped being in Atlantis things were going to be different, but right now it didn’t really feel like it. Jonas was fast getting tired of wading for miles through dense vegetation in the heat, he didn’t know what he had been expecting, but he was sure it wasn’t this.

It was definitely one of the more unusual sights anyone on the USS Bradbury had seen, including their newest member. Jim knew his new post, as a lieutenant commander serving as chief tactical officer, was a second chance, but... Well, getting off the ship as leader of the shuttle team sent to investigate the, well, city floating in space felt like a relief. His station always seemed... confining, somehow. 

Although this place was just damn creepy, or at least it was explored by flashlight. They were in space suits, although it turned out there was some kind of energy shield that kept in oxygen. It was still better if they kept their helmets on and closed, because who knew what might be in the air on something so unfamiliar? Ensign Mendoza’s tricorder indicated no problems, but -

From nowhere, the lights suddenly powered on, leaving them all half-blinded. “OK, who touched the light switch?” Jim said, blinking back eyestrain tears. He could see well enough to notice the sheepish look on Lieutenant Dayne’s face, although what he’d touched wasn’t immediately clear. 

Respect is earned not freely given.

Rules only matter if you can do the right thing by following them.

If following the rules means that people get hurt, it’s OK to break the rule.

It’s OK to be an asshole. People think it’s charming.

Kiss no one’s ass unless you’re into that kind of thing.

Mistakes happen. Accept responsibility for your own actions.
