When Dove had set their mind on something it was hard to talk them out of it, but who was Haurchefant to even try to do that. Dove was the Warrior of Light, the champion of Eorzea, they were loved all over the world and Haurchefant was more than happy to see them thrive, they deserved it, especially after everything they had been through. Now they even brought an end to the Dragonsong War and Haurchefant.. was still alive.
He would have gladly given his life if it meant protecting them, he had stepped forward to shield them with his body and when the spear of light had pierced his body he was sure he would die, but by some miracle (or magic) he was saved. And after everything was said and done and Haurchefant had recovered enough to travel again Dove had insisted to take him to La Noscea, or Costa del Sol to be precise. Even though they were known as the Warrior of Light, at heart they would always be a pirate, and after enduring the cold of Ishgard for so long he could not blame them for wanting to return to sunnier areas for a while.
Now they were resting for the evening in a small hut near the beach, the sound of the waves audible through the open window. Even though the Elezen was excited to feel the warm sand beneath his feet for the first time longer journeys still exhausted him so they had decided to save it for the coming morning.
The evening air was still warm so Haurchefant moved to sit on the bed shirtless, the still healing scar on his chest a reminder of their adventures together. Reaching out his hand he pulled Dove on the bed and into his lap, their frame so small in comparison to his own.
βI am so happy you are here with meβ, he whispers, his voice basically dripping with the affection and admiration he holds for the Auri warrior. The smile on his face is gentle as they move to lay one of their small hands against one of Haurchefantβs, finger by finger, digit by digit.
Haurchefant was completely in awe of them. Those hands, so small, so gentle, saved so many lives, and not only that, even the entire world, more than once. For a moment he just looked at their hands, even with the different sizes it felt like they were meant for one another, so Haurchefant raised their hand to his lips, pressing kisses to their wrist, then the tip of each finger.
