I feel this, I also can't stand people recounting funny stories about me because I can't be sure whether the laughter is directed at me or not, even if they're my friends :(

they can feel that their worldview is being threatened, but they don’t understand why they feel that way so of course it must be the character that is the problem

Yes, and no. Puerto Rico is pretty Americanized, so I don’t feel like I missed much in the respects of growing up in a place that doesn’t have a McDonald’s in every other street. My childhood was pretty good because back in the late 80′s the country’s economy boomed, so I lived comfortably until I was about 10, when, politically and economically, it all went to shit.

Another downside is that it made me stick out like a sore thumb because I was always the only “gringa” in school, and teachers would always poke at me and give me shit for “looking/acting/sounding funny”. And my parents always talked about how clean and organized and technologically advanced schools are in the US, while air conditioning in classrooms that average 90 degrees most of the year didn’t happen until I was in high school, same as computer labs.

As an adult (the horrors of unemployment and crime rates is kind of universal so I won’t bring that up) I do feel a sense of pride? Like, it’s cool that I got to experience both worlds, in a way, even if it wasn’t the best of them.

The worst part comes from fucking up your languages. I constantly failed Spanish class because I only spoke it in school, and then English class consisted of “read this story and answer these five basic questions”, which didn’t help me in any way. The result? Me giving a class that consists of “cuando el dijo aquello because fulano said that one thing sobre el caso hace a couple of months ago”. It’s a disaster.

I prefer to be up close in combats but I suck as a warrior. I’ve been itching to try mages though. Cullens like a big sad dog even when I don’t romance him I can’t help but want to hold him whenever I talk to him ahha </3
