ASTM A815 WP446 is a ferritic stainless steel grade used for manufacturing butt-weld pipe fittings such as elbows, tees, reducers, caps, and crosses for high-temperature and corrosive industrial environments. It is covered under the ASTM A815 / ASME SA815 specification, which applies to wrought ferritic, ferritic-austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel piping fittings used in pressure piping systems.
The WP446 grade (UNS S44600) contains a very high chromium content, typically 23–27%, which gives the material excellent resistance to oxidation, scaling, sulfidation, and high-temperature corrosion. Because of this composition, ASTM A815 WP446 fittings perform well in extreme heat and aggressive chemical environments.
