Black Widow Harry is a fakeout title! What happened was that I had this whole idea in my head about a Victorian-ish AU in which Harry is Tom's very handsome widower stepfather whose subsequent spouses keep accidentally dying. It's so mysterious. No reason why they should be dying and leaving Harry all to Tom's attentions again.
But then I got way too into the mechanics of why Harry is Tom's stepfather in the first place. Why did he marry Merope? Love potion! Whoops, look at all this trauma and exploration of the damage something like that might do to one's psyche once it's all revealed. Also all my grumbly feelings about the Jacob/Queenie romance in the Fantastic Beasts movies. And so Tom ended up just being Harry's adorable stepson and the actual ship is Harry/Newt. There is only one dead spouse and Harry doesn't even qualify for the black widow title.
Anyway, I died. is the first line of my super secret original project 😄
