Bellerophon was the son of Poseidon and Eurynome though he was raised by her mortal husband, Glaucus. It was Poseidon had him and Pegasus cross paths. Bellerophon tamed the creature with the help of Athena (which may seem odd to those who recall medusa's myth). He dreamt of Athena handing him a golden bridle one night and when he awoke, it was there. Soon after he made a sacrifice to Athena and Poseidon, then found Pegasus grazing in a meadow and with ease bridled the horse. The reason Athena helped (possibly) was that Bellerophon would need Pegasus for his many adventures where he would face various exotic creatures (she was on a hero kicking creature a$$ kick after the perseus v. medusa showdown apparently). Feeling good about his success, he sets off to find King Pittheus in order to marry his daughter, Aethra. Misfortunately, before the marriage can take place he "accidentally" kills a man - thought to be one of his brother(s) - and gets himself exiled. So he sets off to find another king - King Proteus; who is willing to absolve Bellerophon of his crimes. But... during his stay, the king's wife, Stheneboea, attempts to seduce him. Bellerophon knowing that she is a married woman and that her husband is likely his only chance of being absolved of his crimes, rejects her advances. Stheneboea becomes outraged and accuses him of attempting to rape her. King Proteus wanting nothing to do with the matter (and because it is frowned upon to kill offending guests) refers Bellerophon to another King - his father-in-law. King Iobate, now irriated with his son-in-law for forcing this degenerate into his home, sets Bellerophon on a series of heroic quests hoping that one of them will kill him. His first task, and most notable one at that, was the slaying of the Chimera. He was then sent to fight the Amazons... and so on. He lives! When Iobates saw he survived these perilous feats, he married him to his other daughter, Philonoe (he thought Bellerophon must be blessed by the gods). After quite some peace and success on earth, Bellerophon's arrogance got the best of him and he decide to fly to Mount Olympus to be among the gods. Zeus was annoyed by the hero's goal to sit among them as though they were equals, so he sent a gadfly to sting Pegasus, which caused Bellerophon to fall to earth. He was crippled for the rest of his life and because he offend the gods, he was never welcomed anywhere and was forced to wander the earth until he eventually died. IN MY OPINION Bellerophon in your chart can represent a) your cockiness, b) where you are unlucky and likely to have a fall from grace/power, c) your ability to defeat difficult enemies/tasks, d) redemption, and/or e) where you travel a lot and/or visit those in power.
i encourage you to look into the aspects of bellerophon along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of bellerophon AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede bellerophon!
