do you sleep with the light on or your doors closed? why? light off but night light on and door open for Toddler Purposes (I can navigate the apartment in the dark but the 3yo and Mr Asta cannot)
hot or cold coffee/tea? Hot 90% of the time, though I love love an iced matcha
do you use the same username for all/most of your socials? If you googled my OG username, literally every result led to me. (this is partially why I chose a different one for this era.) I'm epiphany-jones here and EpiphanyJones on AO3 and nowhere else.
white shoes, yay or nay? why? No. I am a black-and-grey everything girlie in general, but also I'm lazy and will simply never do the maintenance to keep white shoes white.
what song is stuck in your head right now? (if none, last one you remember listening to?) wheezing laughter in 'toddler mom'
would you rather watch three twenty minute episodes or a one hour movie? To Mr Asta's eternal grief I am neither a movie nor a TV person. I think if I was forced to choose, I'd pick a one hour movie because once I'm watching it I'll see the whole thing, whereas I will absolutely drift away to do something else in between episodes and never come back.

Origins of your blog’s name: A flash of pure inspiration and/or desperation. You see, I originally signed up on AO3 with the universal old username I referenced above, but I was talking excitedly about finding joy in writing again to a friend/good-terms ex who it turns out also writes fanfic and he caaasually picked up his phone and I literally changed my username in that very moment. Listen my dude we're very cool these days but I do not need you reading my Dragon Age smut. Anyway, my old tumblr is also under that og username so it made sense to make a brand new blog matching my AO3 name.
My ‘I’ll always order this food’: Depending on what restaurant we're talking about: salmon-avocado sushi or anything duck.
Current comfort movie, show, and book:
- I don't movies almost at all these days and I really don't rewatch movies... but I guess if I had to pick, The Yellow Submarine. Absolute mainstay of my childhood. The toddler is just starting to be able to sit through parts of movies, and he really likes the first third of it (and loves singing along)
- Similarly, I don't really have a comfort show. Uhhh.... in college when I was entirely and completely Mentally Well I watched every single episode I could get my hands on of Next Top Model (America's, Canada's, New Zealand's, Australia's, England's, iirc Singapore's? And someone subtitled a season of another one, though I can't remember...)? These days I go through phases of getting very invested in Sport (track&field)?
- Lord of the Rings, easy. Reading it is like coming home. Runner-up is Sabriel.
Song on repeat: See above for the very sweet and also eternal NumberBlock One song. I don't really put songs on repeat otherwise, but if I did, if I am allowed to have a non-mommy moment: probably The Heart is a Muscle by Gang of Youths.
My current hyperfixation: Dragon Age :'). And Lord of the Rings, always.
Oddly specific thing that brings me joy: The toddler, who until a few weeks ago would yell NO if we told him we loved him, now runs to hug us saying "I love you five hundred thousand!" Non-mommy thing: the color of the sky in the west when it's not-quite night but past dusk. It's a very good blue.
What smell makes me happy: This is.... insane, okay, but there's one cabinet in my apartment that has smelled so wonderfully spiced-woody since we moved in, and opening it to get a good lungful is my favorite thing. Maybe the last tenant stored something aromatic in there?
Something I loved as a kid and secretly still do: The Redwall books by Brian Jacques. I do a random-selection reread every decade or so.
Are you an early bird or a night owl: I was once a natural night owl, but five years working open shift at Starbucks in my 20s, a whole decade of 9am office jobs since then, and a toddler who rarely if ever sleeps past 7:30am has made me a very unhappy early bird.
If you work, what is your profession and do you like it: I am a faculty assistant at a university. It is often very stupid and aggravating, but it's union, my kid can go to school for free in fifteen years, and as annoying as half of my faculty are, the other half are great. It's real boom/bust in terms of workload, too, so half the time I'm just writing fanfic on the clock.
Phone wallpaper right now: Lockscreen is my cartoonishly photogenic (completely un-posed!) child from the lake weekend we had with friends last summer. Wallpaper is a photo I took from a glacier in Iceland on this day I think 9 years ago. Iceland for New Years was stunning and also: so. so cold, if you were wondering.
