Assemble Talk - Steamhouse 15/3/2019
Attended a really inspiring talk from Joe Halligan from multidisciplinary studio Assemble last night. Perfect primary research for my essay and practice based work. It’s affirmed that I’m back on track with looking at responsible design. Much of the talk was centred around the regeneration in Liverpool and the Granby workshops. It’s a fantastic model of how to engage communities and regenerate cities. I’ve seen them talk previously at Offsite Design conference in Dublin, but that was on the back of their Turner Prize nomination and win. Joe’s talk was much more grass roots on their Granby Four Streets project, their co-operative working methods and finding solutions to practical problems through the act of making.

The talk was hosted by the Maker Assembly who aim to make a home for critical discussion about maker culture: its meaning, politics, history and future.
