This info is a bit old but it explains why Karma was part of the Law Faculty at Togyo. Also interesting is the note about young bureaucrats, most of whom are male, being smart and hardworking. Sounds like Karma!

Which fic is this?? I have a feeling I might be following that one too because that plot sounds vaguely familiar to me... Though if it's been over a year since it's updated then that probably explains why I can't remember lol.

Bit of a shame it hasn’t updated in so long. I think the fic is a good blend of drama, action, and well-defined characters that, for the most part, stay true to their canon roots and have interesting interactions with one another. I also like how the ship tease is sparse and understated but has meaningful heft to it that helps round out the characters.

Admittedly, one of the main reasons I like it so much is because as far as fanfics go, it’s got the best depiction of Karma I’ve ever seen. The author did a good job of balancing his experiences in the fic with his canon foundation. So many little things about him were just spot on, I felt.

"Karma and Okuda never talk/interact!”

"All Karma did was talk about his fear to her! It didn’t mean anything!" or

"Karma is just using her scientific knowledge for his pranks!"

Lol, people need to read the official fanbooks/data books (Roll Book Time/Graduation Album Time). The nature of Karma and Okuda’s friendship and why they get along so well is covered in those books. But what’s more, those details aren’t just background information stuffed into (official) supplementary material -- those elements of their friendship detailed in the books are actually reflected in the manga.

Karma is wary and distrusting of others, so Karma confiding in someone what he’s afraid of is a testament to how much he trusts them. That cave scene with Karma and Okuda is not a “nothing” scene. It’s significant to Karma’s character and development for multiple reasons, one of which is that it showed he’s able to drop his barriers and form a genuine friendship with Okuda. The idea that he’s only “using” her for the sake of his pranks is a false indictment of Karma’s character and it devalues their relationship, which is a lot more subtle and nuanced than many other pairs in the series.

I mean, it's obvious why Karma considers Okuda the easiest girl to talk to: she’s ridiculously honest, but kind, so Karma feels at ease with her.

But Okuda finding Karma the easiest guy to talk to? Unexpected. He’s such a troublemaker and she’s...not.

Okuda doesn’t even find Nagisa or Sugino the easiest to talk to even though Nagisa is so mild-mannered and Sugino was described by Karma as being friendly and capable of endearing himself to everyone.

Instead, she considers Karma -- the guy who a lot of their classmates were still afraid of halfway through the year -- easier to talk to than his two best pals and literally every other guy in the class.

I can just imagine a scenario where Okuda kind of offhandedly says Karma is the most approachable guy in the class with a calm smile on her face and the rest of her classmates look at her strangely like how the hell is that demonic shit disturber approachable in ANY way.
