hi! I'm really liking A Slight Pitter-Patter, it's an interesting au! for a prompt, "chise tries to sleep, but Elias' pestering doesn't stop"?
She woke up to the sound of ruffling papers.
Chise groaned and buried her head into the pillows. The last thing she wanted at the moment was to wake up—not that she thought in these exact terms, but she damn well knew she wanted to sleep. She was nowhere near ready enough for cognitive thinking beyond rest.
When the shuffling papers continued, the light sleeper let out a loud, frustrated sound and pulled her pillow over her head.
“Oh, did I wake you up? Apologies.”
Instantly, she sat up and her eyes landed on the one person, fake or not, she would prefer never to see again.
He sat at her desk, with the lamplight on, and hunched over the small wooden furniture, sitting in a chair meant for her, not a large—whatever he was—being such as he. His wolf skull head lifted up, beady red eyes pin-pointed her in her tiny bed. She heard his clothes ruffle with his movements, and the red cloth he wore on the back of his head, tied to his horns, waved when her bedroom’s rotation fan turned to him.
She wasn’t insanely surprised to see him. This late, however, she had no patience. It did remind her of the load of chores she had to do tomorrow, after classes. She would have to do them with Elias until she could get a refill on her drugs. “What are you doing here?”
“Same as usual, Chise. Your biology notes are fascinating, however.”
“Thanks. Now, let me sleep, please.”
He cleared his throat and stood up, laying her biology notes on the desk. “I must thank Ruth for getting rid of that poison,” he said, before sitting down on the end of her bed. She more than felt his weight sink into the mattress, horrifying realistic. “He was quite in agreement with me; they are hurting you more—“
She sighed, tired. It felt like cotton had replaced her brain. “Don’t tell me he’s going to start talking, too.” Chise had locked Ruth out of her room before leaving for bed.
Elias tilted his great big head. “He will protect you when I cannot. Luckily for him, a familiar, he can be in a mortal form with or without your special sight.” She had no desire to keep a pet (much less the cash), but whatever made this guy shut up.
“Fantastic,” she deadpanned, dropping onto her pillow. She rolled over to turn her back to him. “Goodnight.”
She heard him huff. “You seem tense. I read that experiencing a sexual climax can help wi—“
With an exasperated, shocked gasp, she whipped her head around to face him over her shoulder “Don’t tell me you just told me to masturbate.”
Elias was quite technical about most things (when she wasn’t on her meds). Sometimes he even made things, in the most scientific light, poetic. But this, however. Was. Not. Okay.
She was so, so tired. Tired of him. Tired of everything, really. Honestly? She couldn’t remember the last time she let herself be a little frisky with herself. But with Elias? God, no. Chise gave him a sharp look, despite her exhaustion. To be truthful, he wasn’t—ugly. But he wasn’t real. This conversation was one-sided. If he was telling her to Jill off, that was her subconscious telling her she needed a little release.
But it was too weird with him around.
She needed to get sleep. A glance at the clock told her if she fell asleep now she could get a whole hour’s worth of sleep. That was more important than her own desires. Satisfied with her logical conclusion, she turned back to Elias and snapped, “Goodnight.”
Though he didn’t move from his spot on her bed, Elias didn’t bother her for the rest of the night.
