aspiringpolymath replied to your post: LETāS TALK (or not but like, I am deliberately not...
I recently was inspired to reread A Little Familiar after listening to Bastilleās song 4AM on repeat. (Refrain: Here, here, my family You are my familiar, you are my familiar Here, here, my friends and me You are my familiar Oh, there is nowhere I would rather be Never felt more comfortable, could never want for more when Iām here No, there is nowhere I would rather be Never felt more comfortable, could never want for more when youāre near)
aaaahhh Piotr! What he feels with every beat of his big heart! What he thinks while he watches Bartleby at revels without him!
For the fanfic meme: 20, 26, 31, 47
Thank you, Miss Shawna xo
20. Have/Would you ever rewrite a fic? If yes, would you take the original down?
Excellent question. Iāve never re-written a finished fic before but I do a lot of re-writing as write (itās a big part of why everything takes so long; a piece will start out as one thing and end up something else entirely), so itās highly plausible that I would re-write a finished something if the mood took me. Is that what they call a redux or is that only when someone else re-does your story?
Anyway,if I was going to do it, I think Iād leave the original up; just for comparison and contrast.Ā Ā
26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?
When people say that the characterisation was good, or that I gave them feels. I really like it when that happens.
31. Whoās the one character youāve just never managed to get perfectly right?
I donāt think Iāve ever got anyoneĀ āperfectly rightā but I do wish I could be more sympathetic towards Chloe in my writing.Ā Sheās a very interesting and far more complex character than I allow her to be, but much to my dismay, I tend to use her poorly. I would like to do her justice at some point.
47. If someone you know in real life who isnāt involved in fandoms asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
Oh my giddy aunt, no.Ā Itās way too personal and can only be shared with like-minded strangers on the internet, BUT if you were to ask me to recommend my stuff to someone new to fandom, Iād probably say, start at the beginning. Thereās not that many of them, theyāre all relatively short and, I think anyway, they get better as they go along.
Now itās your turn; 5, 13, 19 and 34 please and thank you, missus. @endemictoearth
Someone asked where else I can be found, in case this place goes, ahem, t!ts up. Iām on Instagram, probably too much, and itās not really what I want in a social medium, but Iām also aspiringpolymath over there. I have a twitter, but donāt do much with it these days. Iām endemictoearth over there.Ā
I donāt like facebook and do as little as possible over there, so itās not worth mentioning. In the same vein, I think I signed up for a dreamwidth account but have never used it, so . . .Ā
I have a goodreads account, where you can judge me for reading too many Regency romance Christmas anthologies. (It really is too. many.)
Iāll mention my AO3 (endemictoearth) but most of the people who care about it probably already know about it.Ā
But theyāre going to have to shut this place down around me. And if I find another place, Iāll update this post.

This is a wonderful piece, and thank you for the link! However, holy hell those couple of comments near the top . . . why can't we just have beautiful music without all that 'european purity' crap? (I know, 'don't read the comments', but you really can't read them anywhere!)
Holy fuuuuuuck, I did NOT see those comments. Grossssss. People, why are you like this.

Just found your blog; it's great! I've been thinking about writing something about Hallmark movies (and the like) for a while now--glad to see I'm not alone! Just wondering, I couldn't find it in the archives, but have you had the misfortune of watching Beverly Hills Christmas? It might be utterly unwatchable; I couldn't make it past the first 10 minutes, but it does briefly feature Dean Cain (he wasn't the reason I had to stop.)
I've been on this beat for seven years now, and it's only gotten more treacherous as the years go by. The number of new movies released each year has gone up exponentially since I started in 2011. It's kind of overwhelming. And since I put priority on releasing the reviews of newer movies, a lot of reviews of older movies can languish in my draft box for years before being published. One of those reviews in the waiting room is Beverly Hills Christmas, which is a shame because that one was wild. And also because I believe they put a sequel into production at some point?? (I didn't look that far into it.)Long story short: I have seen it. Oh, I have.
Salmon: Whatās the most romantic thing someoneās ever done for you?
One day my purse, keys, and phone were stolen while I was out to lunch. I was so upset and scared. When I was able to get home and into my apartment (after getting keys from the management office) I let Jim know what was going on. He asked me if Iād like him to come get me and bring me back home with him. This was when I was still living in Chicago, a three hour drive from Kokomo. It was a Wednesday and heād just worked a full day. There was no way I was going to ask him to do that, as nice as it sounded to me. We were messaging back and forth some more and he saidĀ āAre you sure you donāt want me to come get you? Iād be happy to do it.ā and I told him donāt get me wrong, Iād love it and it was amazing that he even offered, but I didnāt want him to go to the trouble. And then he was like but what if I want to? And I said,Ā āReally? I mean if you really want to, yeah!ā And he was likeĀ āIām glad you said that because I started driving 20 minutes ago.ā
Oasis!
Oasis: Do you wear sunglasses often? Are you a beer, wine, or liquor person? Do you prefer the stars or the moon, the land or the sea? Do you have a lot of regrets? Would you ever want to be famous?
I wear regular glasses so not really. I havenāt had prescription sunglasses in years and Iām blind enough without them that itās just .... not great to wear regular glasses.
I donāt like beer or most wines. I like sort of dessert-y liquors but also they tend to cost a lot of money. When I was in photo school I was a big fan of the fuzzy navel wine cooler. I havenāt had one in years, that might be something to check out again sometime, haha.
I like stars andĀ the moon but if forced to choose I guess Iād pick stars. Iāve always wanted a tattoo of the big dipper but never quite worked out exactly ... how. I like the sea ... in theory. I live near it and donāt ever spend time in it so thereās a vague sense of guilt but hey pictures are pretty!
I have a few regrets but not a lotĀ I guess? Probably a reasonable amount for a supposedly grown ass adult.
Would I ever want to be famous? I always wanted to be a singer and Iād still like to be a writer but IāmĀ kind of awful and lazy... Also actually being famous sounds like a hassle. The being rich part that generally comes with it though... that would be pretty freaking great.
(Ask list here.)
