Ben wondered sometimes if his Uncle knew where he’d run off to when he had a few days between and knew his mother was otherwise busy with her usual duties of trying to keep the galaxy safe. Not that he thought he’d actually follow him to Osliea. Even to find the girl that had been leaving marks across his body for years though it had taken some time to figure out she was the one though he’d learned about soul mates and the painful costs of having them when he was young and couldn’t figure out just where they were coming from. Tell a lie and the other half pays for it... 

Ben had been horrified at the idea of harming someone else and done everything since to avoid lying or at least enough to suggest to those closest to him that he didn’t want to have to tell the truth. Questions answered with questions and other things that kept him within the lines as best as possible. Not that he faulted Abby for hers though they’d seemed to have gotten much further between that he’d feel a new one.

Tonight however he’d woken up with another nightmare and just found a place just outside the Hub where he could sit and watch the stars while he tried to calm down. He didn’t want the others to worry, not even his Stargirl knew why though he was feeling more and more bad for hiding it from them all. But then he’d seen how others had reacted in pushing him away like they might catch it. For now he just watched and tried to control his breathing,rubbing a finger along his newest scar.

Eron realized then just how hard this job was getting. Here he was, on some blasted planet in worse shape than the worst place he’s been to, and all because he wanted to prove to the bunch of people who thought he couldn’t take on the task simply because he was years younger than the rest of the group. 

He remembered a bantha fodder looking all smug, trying to insult him regarding his age, and in return he answered it quick with a Force choke, making everyone in the vicinity shift around uncomfortably. 

He shook the recent memory away and instead paid attention to his surroundings, almost bumping into an equally distracted Rodian, and mumbled an apology before moving on. 

‘Well,’ he told himself, ‘at least I don’t stick out like a kriffing sore thumb.’

The sight of everything wasn’t uncommon to Eron - he’d seen corruption and ruin everywhere he went with deep-pocketed people always punching down on the underprivileged - but the Osliean city wasn’t in his interest in that moment. He’d heard whispers about the Hub when he stepped off the ship at the docking bay, but he couldn’t act on those alone, despite one part of him urged him to go on and ignore the rest of all the work it could take.

His feet took him to the cantina while his brain was pondering over other possible ways to finish this job as soon as possible. Once inside, he looked around, hoping some unlucky sod was drunk enough to tell him everything he needed to know.

Hux deeply relieved to be leaving this hot, miserable planet. Negotiating an alliance with the Hutts had not been his idea. The entire mission of the First Order was to eradicate criminals like the Hutts, but the Order needed funds and resources, and Hux could not refuse the high command’s order to work out a deal with them. 

During the past week, the general had flattered, laughed, and smiled, acting as pleasantly as he could while hiding his disgust. He’d apparently succeeded and was now on his way home, back to coolness of space and the well structured environment of the Finalizer. 

An alien aide saw him off at the hanger, stating that the Hutt’s were pleased to be working with the Order and were sending parting gifts as tokens of their new friendship. Hux thanked the assistant and boarded his shuttle. He ordered the pilot to depart and left for his small but private quarters, exhausted from faking friendliness for the past week. 

He sighed heavily as the door slid shut behind him, leaning back against it to enjoy a few seconds of silence. A small sound drew his attention and he started when he saw someone else in the room. “Who are you? Why are you here?”

“While I understand your wish, you should not run from it. Secrets can scar more than they protect. I should know.” Luke told her. “Of course, I wish your father never touched my nephew. Ben was not his to take. I’m not sure of what to make of you, though. If people judged me by my father, I doubt I would have been allowed to take twelve students under my care to train. For now, I will remain neutral about you.”

It is with great regret that I need to announce I will be no longer continuing this blog. Unfortunately, I have a chronic illness which affects my stamina and I need to cut back on what I do. I have enjoyed roleplaying with you all and am very sorry to cut our threads short like this, but real life comes first.
