i had a fables and fairytales book when i was younger, one of the sections was asops fables,,, at the end of each it explicity said the moral
but let me tell you, the moral and story of the fox and the stork did NOT match, like at all
so basically the fox invites the stork over to eat, makes soup on a plate and doesnt realise the stork cant drink the soup from the plate (beak too long). the fox then asks why the stork hasnt eaten but the stork doesnt want to complain and be rude so instead go home (hungry) and creates a plan, they invite the fox over and serves soup in a tall vase so the fox cant eat (short snout) but the stork can (the beak is like a straw ig?). thats when the fox realises the stork phsically couldnt eat the day before and is like 'opps im dummy'
the moral is meant to be treat others how you want to be treated ,,, but how was that shown at all???
like the fox shouldve magically realised without being told and served the soup differently
but the fox was polite, and did treat the stork well, even asking why they didnt eat the soup ,,, at that point it wouldnt have been rude at all for the stork to explain,, like the fox has literally asked
but no, instead the stork stays silent and hatches a petty plan to get their point across - thats so much ruder than asking for accommodations????
sure if the fox hadnt asked why they didnt eat or refuse to accommodate the stork (if they explained) then the petty plan woukd be understandable and the moral make sense
but this just makes the stork seem like a bitch and undermines the moral
