ugh ugh speaking of sansa. that scene at the hand's tourney where the knight dies violently and jeyne poole loses her shit while sansa's all like "welp" is such a great scene. ugh positive sansa feels all over tonight.
EXACTLY SANSA UNDERSTANDS THE WAY THIS GAME IS PLAYED
gods be good I love Sansa. And not to compare her constantly to Arya, but they're so much alike sometimes it just slays me. They both understand that ALL MEN MUST DIE.
AND THAT ALL MEN MUST SERVE; HENCE HER SUBMISSION TO JOFFREY IN ORDER TO STAY ALIVE
VALAR MORGHULIS VALAR DOHAERIS SANSA IS FLAWLESS AND ANON I LOVE YOU
me: -lists characters who I think are going to die including dany and cersei-
my best friend: what about this margaery character
my best friend: is SHE going to die
me: no
me: right?
me: no she won't
me: she'll live
me: yeah c'mon she'll totally live
Irri
She should be flattered, she knows, that Drogo's bloordriders chose her, out of all the new slaves their khal won, to be handmaiden to the new khaleesi. She should be glad; relieved, even.
But all she can feel is a wordless terror, and grief- grief for her father, with his crinkly-eyed smile just for her, lying dead in the grass somewhere, his slain horse beside him. Grief for her older brother, whom she watched be cut down effortlessly with one savage blow from a foe's arakh. Grief for her mother, who was sold to a slaver, whom she will never see again.
Irri thinks about all of them often, for a while. As she runs her fingers through the khaleesi's hair to untangle the knots she remembers how her mother used to do the same to her, at night, and it is all the girl can do to bite back tears and continue. When the khalasar's long column rides through the land of the Lhazarene, burning and raping and stealing- people as well as their possessions- Irri feels a familiar sense of dread for the lamb men who she had once looked down upon. She wonders how many families shall be destroyed beneath the hooves of Dothraki horses, and she feels unspeakably ill. Her queen, she sees, feels much the same.
It changes when Daenerys emerges as the Unburnt. Irri crosses the Red Waste, survives the city of bones, sails away from Qarth unscathed. Irri survives, where her parents and Doreah and the lamb men did not. Irri endures, Irri does her duty, Irri lives.
And she thinks there must be purpose in that.

And this is where the big question for me needs to be answered by someone with quality... Do you think Sansa will let LF kill Robert Arryn?
Sansa allowing Littlefinger to kill a child would be a massive turning point in her character- probably akin to when Arya killed the guard at Harrenhal. At that point it's going to be a near-impossible choice: murder of Robert Arryn, marrying Harry the Heir, taking back Winterfell with his help... or saving an innocent, albeit annoying child and foiling Littlefinger's plotting.
Quite honestly I think there's going to be a scene parallel to the Sansa/Lysa/Littlefinger murder scene, in which Littlefinger is trying to kill Robert Arryn (after all other attempts somehow fail), Sansa will act as if she's going to help him, and then kill Littlefinger, saving Robert. That will allow Sansa a new brand of freedom- the ability, the necessity to take power without Littlefinger's help- and keep her more in the morally white zone. Plus Robert Arryn would be indebted to her, which means that she would still have the Vale on her side. I would prefer it that way tbh. Harry the Heir is supposed to be kind of a douchebag, isn't he?
okay big asoiaf fear
but there's a general consensus that losing everyone and going through everything she will go through and has already been through will turn her cold; steely
and I understand that; it makes sense
BUT IS IT BAD THAT I DON'T WANT THAT FOR HER? i want her to be queen, of course, but I do think Sansa has such a good heart and ugh I like that she's more of an optimist than a lot of the other characters and I don't want her to become entirely disillusioned with everything
you're learning to talk like a queen
