hi bbby!! i left u a comment already but i just wanted to pop in here and say thank you for the reblog and kind words 🥹i also saw that you got a rude ask earlier this week and i wanted to tell u that that person knows nothing about how much work authors pour into their writing, blog, and promotion methods!
it’s so admirable how hard you work on this blog despite being a MED STUDENT and having other obligations! i’m definitely going to check out your fics + notion soon, your blog is so cute!!
much love, mei <3
Thank you mei🩷
And you don't have to thank me. What I did was the bare minimum.
We shouldn't let their mean words get to us, and I hate when they send asks, I get the notification, my hopes go up, only to read those nasty words.
We shouldn't listen to them at all and let their words dim the light of our creativity.
Being a writer is awesome, that's why I always balance it with the hardships of life.
It gives me an escape from the chaos and rush of every day, and I get to pour out my fantasies onto papers.
I'll check your works too. I saw the layout and theme of your account, and it's really pretty.

i loveee how tae is obsessed with her already without even knowing her name especially in chap6, i neeeed them to interact already😭😩😩
Lol. I'm so happy you love it cause I do too. You don't know how lovely the writing process was, it came out so smoothly and I'm glad you like it. About the interaction... now, I won't fully call this book a slow burn but I know that is may contain some aspects of it and that action won't immediately happen. You'll just have to stick around and see. ;)))
Thank you so much you are so sweet( ◜‿◝ )♡ and please about Tumblr too. Only if you have time I don't want to disturb you much, thank you.❤️💜
I'm going to use works as an example to answer you.
For now, let's go with Amor Tam Pulcher.
I first published the book on Wattpad and only the following day did it make it onto this platform because I write mainly for wattpad. Now I think I'm pretty balanced between the two platforms, and I'm trying to get better with ao3.
I had to use as reference posts made by other writers on the platform to know, for example, how to compile and make a masterlist post for your works and your profile.
That part was easy, and paired with some youtube tutorials, I learned how to edit my masterlists to my full satisfaction.
One thing that had me really hooked was the tumblr web theme, which, for me, is a whole new world that gives my creativity a whole new field to explore.
I first started searching on google for tumblr templates made by well-known creators. My personal fave right now is @glenthemes. Beautiful themes for real.
Let me explain how to make a masterlist first, and then I'll help you through the web page editing. Keep in mind that I know nothing about coding, so don't worry, you're in good hands, and if you're like me, there's no need to be scared (if you know coding, though, you certainly have an advantage, but I tried to run pass those obstacles because I'm literally dumb in that field).
The masterlist (m.list).
First of all, you click on the pencil (better be doing this from your computer) and start working on a new post that you'll later pin to the top of your profile.
Right now in my drafts, I have a sample post for when I update Amor Tam Pulcher, and it looks like this (below):
For the masterlist, let me use The Albedo Effect, a work I'm going to start publishing in the near future, as decoy.
THE TITLE:
I first began with the title. When I'm working out the visuals and aesthetics for my works, I already have something in mind and just have to pour it out.
I begin by choosing the main colours, using a pair or three, and through this site (BBCode & HTML Text colorizer), I change the colours and obtain the gradient look.
Enter the text you want to edit, choose the colours you want to go with, select three-coloured gradient (or any gradient you want; there are many options) and the site does the trick for you. You can even choose if you want the text in italic or bold.
It then gives you a preview. You scroll down, and the box that you need is the bottom one, the one 'to use on your website'. Double-tap on any word in the box, press on CTRL+A on your keyboard and then CTRL+C, so you have it copied into your clipboard.
Return to your Tumblr post, go up to the settings icon, scroll down to text editor and select HTML. Once you're there, scroll and look for the word you've colourised on the site, select it whole and click CTRL+V to paste what you've previously copied into your clipboard.
Now you can return to the Rich Text editor, and your text will show up colourised.
If you have many words that you want to edit by simply changing their colour (no gradient), I advise you to first colour them in red through the few colours that Tumblr gives you by default, then you go to this site (Replace Text) where you can change the code from red (#ff4930) to whatever colour code you want.
You have to go to the HTML editor on your post, copy EVERYTHING, paste it into the box the site gives you and then you edit the single colours.
Following what is in the picture above, I think you understand how this site works, and it's really marvellous.
Once you're done here, you simply paste everything onto the HTML editor (you select everything on the HTML editor by hitting CTRL+A and then hit CTRL+V to paste the edited text).
THE BANNER:
You can do whatever when it comes to the banner. With Amor Tam Pulcher (picture above), I created a gif (at the time, I did it with capcut) and placed it between two other pictures, so the middle frame would be the ever-changing gif that showcases the general vibe of the book and its characters, while the other two pictures are part of the moodboard but aren't gifs.
With 528 Hz instead (picture above), I created a single banner with canva. For the background, I chose a picture that conveys the general vibe of the work the best, and then I added the title in a custom font.
You can also use ibis paint x for more editing freedom.
THE DETAILS (book bible):
For this one, when I newly joined the platform, I had to see how other writers went about it to know how I'd be moving myself.
So you can use the picture above the same way you can use other writers as reference.
Editing the text as explained before, you then add the pairing, tagline, genre, word count (wc) and publishing date according to your work.
After this, I usually add the 'read-more link' to prevent my post from being so long on people's feeds.
Below it, I add a divider (you can find them here on Tumblr, just make sure to give credits if the artists requests for it), and I usually stick with this divider throughout my work.
The only time I didn't was with Amor Tam Pulcher (I use a different divider in the chapters posts).
TABLE OF CONTENTS:
Below the divider, I'm used to adding the date of the latest update just to make new readers know if I'm active with the work or not.
Then I add the chapters and their names. In Amor Tam Pulcher's case, I add little themed summaries, which on wattpad are at the beginning of the chapters.
I also don't forget to add the word count. I do this also to be able to keep track of how long my work is becoming with a bit more accuracy.
This format I use is exclusively for Amor Tam Pulcher.
For 528 Hz (picture above), for example, it changes because it follows the lyrics of the song the work is inspired by. Same goes for Arthemis (picture below) where I don't add those type of sentences and strictly the chapters numbers and names. With Arthemis, the layout is already a lot different, and as you can see, the masterlist is a post you constantly update as you post new chapters.
The web page.
Now let me tell you how I handle the blogs and their themes.
First of all, the themes are always better seen on computer than mobile, which compresses them A LOT.
I love editing the themes of my blogs because they serve as an extra touch to make readers get the vibe of my work.
This one [theme by @retrcmoon] (picture above) is for Amor Tam Pulcher, and the other one [theme by @glenthemes] (picture below) is for Arthemis, and you can already see and feel the difference.
Obviously when you search up these creators and their themes, the template is always different. You're the one who has to edit them and make them work for you. The editing is nothing drastic, but the pictures and the colour scheme you use matter.
Taking Arthemis as an example, let me show you how I work out the theme.
First you need to go to blog settings and toggle the custom theme on. Then you go ahead and click on 'edit theme'.
Which brings you to the page in the picture above. You have to scroll down the left column to find the editing toggles for your specific theme.
To download a custom theme from a creator, once you find the theme you like (simply search up 'tumblr themes' on google and surf through them to find your fave), you click on 'edit HTML' beside that blue box in the picture, click CTRL+A and CTRL+V on your keyboard to paste the codes of the custom theme you've chosen (when you surf through the themes and have picked one, they usually give you a quick tutorial for the installation, but after you've clicked on the 'get theme', for example, it'll take you to a page with codes, and there you simply have to copy everything by clicking on CTRL+A and CTRL+C).
Once you scroll down, you find the editing options the theme gives you and from there, you let your creativity do its job.
Once you're done, save your theme (button in cyan at the top) and exit.
Back to the homepage, click on 'view blog' and you'll see the link to your website right next to your tumblr blog link. Just click on it, and it'll take you to your website.
And that's how you do it.
This post was really long. Forgive me if you find any typos, and I hope I was clear enough. You can ask questions if you have any still.
oh the theme is so SO CUTE! i love love love ur masterlist sm!
thank youuuu, sweetie.🩷
in all honesty, I was heavily inspired by YOUR blog because it's too cute - in fact, beautiful.
I don't know how you did it, but I had to retrieve my past knowledge as an editor and try to understand.
I already had envisioned how I'd make the masterlist - I wanted it to be a bit vintage while also not distancing myself too much from the older theme - but I also used yours as a reference to see if I was putting too many pngs or not lmao - I had made so many pngs and I think it would've come out real messy if I had included all of them.
now my gallery is full on different pics and pngs because I also discovered how to make those sparkling gif banners - downloading gifs from pinterest didn't work.😪
plus, I finally put to use the pngs I had reblogged on my side blog.
I reblogged them normally at first because they were cute and I was thinking about using them for my notion page, but then I remembered them and it saved me a lot of work really.

hello, sweetie.
the answer to this question won't be as smooth as one would expect.
initially, I used capcut, free version, because I posted chapters twice or once a month so I never passed the cooldown.
now, after everything that's happening with capcut (the controversies etc) and how bad it's getting (everything's turning premium), I had to move onto another platform.
I couldn't find an app itself, but I found a sight that allows you to make and edit gifs very widely.
the site is called ANIMATED GIF MAKER, and now I primarily use this one because it's easier for me when it's on computer.
on mobile, though, I have to resort to capcut regardless or sometimes I use an app called VITA, but with this one, the only problem is the size of the gif because tumblr doesn't allow heavy gifs on post.
this is an extra reason as to why I prefer using the website rather than the app.
so, yeah, that's all.
that's what I use and everything is totally free.
consider that the quality is not going to be top-notch, but it's good enough for my posts, so I don't have a problem with it.
hope I was of help xoxo
if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me c:
