Laying awake in his bedroom Monk glared up at the ceiling. It’s times like this that he hated being nocturnal. He grumbled a bit and sat up, smiling at his sleeping mate next to him. He sat up and put on his coat, sighing a bit. Ever since the snowdown his mind had been in turmoil. He slipped out of his home and headed towards the river, the waters always seemed to calm him down.
Looking up at the waning crescent, he figured it must be 1 am or so. The snow crunching beneath his feet, shivering slightly. “Stupid snow… stupid cold… hate the cold…” He grumbled as he made his way over to the river, smiling as it was still unfrozen. He sat by the river bank and splashed some water on his face, the cool water trickling down his muzzle and matting down his cheek fur. Ah that brought back memories… he quickly shook his head, mustn’t think about that. Dipping his feet and tail in the water he stared down at the clear stream, what little moonlight there was illuminating the water beautifully.
A dark blur in the water caught his eye, he looked over and saw a fish swimming down the river, what luck! He grinned and got ready, in one swift motion he grabbed the fish straight to from water, it flapping about as he cheered triumphantly. His mind then went back years ago, back when he was little. Memories flooding back, him up to his waist in water. Looking up at the monkey king, grinning. “Pay attention trash, I’m gonna teach you how to fish so you don’t steal anymore.” He watched Kong grab the fish right of the water, grinning widely and proudly.
A loud growl and storm of sparks filled the silent night. The fish in his hand crushed as he was shaking in rage. They were coming back again, no matter how hard he tried to forget them they always came back! Letting out a loud yell he threw the mangled fish at a far tree, growling and huffing angrily. “Stupid… don’t fucking remember!” He yelled at himself, slashing and smacking the water as tears welled up in his eyes. “Dammit Kong…”
