PS: Do you think Helena will be a good mother-figure to Cass in the AU?

God I think it's all going to depend on when Helena meets Cass?

Helena and Vic's romance is wonderful and I adore it, but part of the problem was that they intersected at just the wrong time in their journeys.

Vic was too far down his own, and he had forgotten the way that the rage and hurt and desire for vengeance resonated. His anger was also kind of more of a... chip on his shoulder, kind of anger, rather than the kind of anger that comes with survivor's guilt. Helena, meanwhile, was so bogged down in her own pain and trauma that she genuinely couldn't see another way through. And so she made her decisions, and it was a decision that Vic couldn't let go of, because the decision was an absolute rejection of everything he had tried to teach her.

Adding Cass to the mix complicates the dynamic. Helena is an inherently protective person, especially of children. And Cass is Cass. She's inherently empathic, and would be able to tell that Helena wasn't ready to let go of her anger, her hurt, in a way that Vic not might be able to.

If Cass meets Helena early enough, she might be able to help her heal, might be able to help her understand the destructive cost of the cycle of vengeance that Helena is drowning herself in. If Helena meets Cass early enough, she will do anything to protect this girl, who has been hurt so much and so often already.

And if Helena's hand is stayed, if Helena manages to come through the other side of her anger and pain without alienating Cass and Vic in the process (because Cass would be just as alienated and hurt by Helena's decision to turn to a lethal solution to her problem as Vic)... I think Helena would, in fact, be a decent mother. A bit of a wine-aunt, yeah. But Helena loves kids, Helena is good with kids, and I think that her dynamic with Vic would really endear her to Cass.

I don’t really have any opinions on the two new characters introduced at Sakura Con, other than I already know that they’ll be popular because they fit their respective tropes, but I do really like Sha Wu Sheng’s master because I’m always partial to the old guys, and I like that he really dwarfs Wu Sheng when you put them side by side–it’s cute! (I know some vague-ish spoilers about what happens with him/Wu Sheng in Gaiden, but I’ll reserve my thoughts on them for when the OVA comes out.)

And yes, I’ve had a ton of ideas for drawing younger Wu Sheng!….along with the billion other ideas I continue to come up with but will probably never get around to actualizing due to lack of skill/time, lol. But I definitely plan to getting around to drawing (my imagined) scenes from Wu Sheng’s past! I’ve actually already drawn a pic of him and his master, so if you’re interested, here it is.

Caption literally says: “You’re so small…and cute!” Because at one of the Japanese showcases, everyone kept talking abut how tiny he was compared to his master, and I thought that was adorable.
