In other words, if a character does not look explicitly female, act feminine, or is treated like a woman in ways we are all taught to expect, we’re quick to assume that they’re male. Doesn’t matter if they’re a teenager’s crude webcomic drawings, a pink blob, a robot, or literally a scribble.

The fact that “male” encompasses everything from “male” to “ambigious/gender neutral” and “not girly enough” is pretty poopy!
