[ META ] + [ LIF & THRASIR TIMELINE ]
MORE BANGERS IN MY INBOX TONIGHT OHH MANNNNNN
okay so my big headcanon is that ifingr (thrasir's tome) is given to her by bruno before their timeline gets doomed. this is backed up by thrasir saying that bruno gave her "this tome" (which i assume to be ifingr!) this is further backed up by lif referring to sokkvabekkr specifically as a "blade of the realm of the dead" but thrasir mentioning no connection between ifingr and hel.
considering how special i believe magic is to veronica (i use it as a symbol of power, authority, and agency, especially when i write her with enclosing dark but!!! ahem tangent) i think it's fitting that ifingr is the one thing that remains entirely hers. it's a power that isn't from hel. she chooses to wield it (the choice is of course very limited, but she'll take what she can get)
something else that i'd like to mention while we're on the topic of book 3; i think the interesting thing about thrasir is how her development as veronica is basically just... stoppered. especially in book 3, we see her act aggressively and childishly; she is vitriolic and insulting towards veronica and the others, and in her summoned form uses phrases that younger alts of veronica would. it, to me, really shows the tragedy of their timeline. veronica was unable to fulfill her destiny. her path towards becoming a ruler was ultimately taken from her by hel, and she's trying to get back what little she can by devoting herself to hel. which becomes another thing about her life never truly becoming her own: i think a lot about how younger veronica was meant to take up her father's mantle. i think about how it must have been drilled in her mind, how she should be the perfect ruler. i think about how she did things because of her curse, how she followed that voice thinking it must have been her own but ultimately being gamed into making decisions on embla's behalf. i think about how her whole life she had so little freedom to choose, and how her death in this timeline is still devoted to a will outside her own. no wonder why she doesn't have room to grow! she barely has the space to self-actualize. it makes her interaction with v!veronica, where veronica makes an attempt to reconcile with her, all the more special to me. it's like... veronica making amends with her past, despite thrasir being from a doomed future (because, in many aspects, thrasir is stagnated)
idk! many thoughts. i told you all i had veronica disease. anyways.
