Regina was no longer the same person she was when she left this town more than twenty years ago, but from the moment her feet touched the ground of Manitou Springs, it felt like it was only yesterday that she packed her bags and left everything behind - and that surely did nothing to help settle the nerves of coming back there. It didnât take long for Regina to feel like a complete stranger in her hometown. An intruder. A burden, even. While her sister was warm and welcoming as ever, Isabella preferred to tell her mother she could go back to the city and sheâd just come and visit her who knows when... which would only defy any purpose of Reginaâs visit. Itâs been too long since she saw Isabella; Regina was there to spend time with her daughter, and that was more important than any ill feelings she had for this town.
Not that this plan was even successful... yes, sheâs only been in town for less than two days now, but so far Regina had barely seen Isabella. It was why Regina spent the afternoon in Cassieâs kitchen, preparing her famous lasagna and apple pie before she made the way to Isabellaâs place, intending to surprise her for a much needed girls night. But instead, Regina was now sitting alone just outside her daughterâs house, feeling almost lost. Izzie was stuck at work, and Regina didnât even have the heart to tell her she came over to surprise her. Izzie would feel terrible for missing her, and she didnât need to feel guilty on top of everything when it was Reginaâs own mistake for not checking with her before she showed up. A silly mistake, but one that surely didnât help Reginaâs spirit that was already feeling down for the past days.
