Hi! What can we do in the UK to help and fight? Thanks
So these were council elections so it’s mostly going to be on an are by area basis. If you’re in a larger city, I’d recommend looking into the events and marches held by Stand up to Racism UK, but in smaller areas it’s going to be about forming new and funding existing local action groups in order to make it as obvious as possible that the malicious actions taken by reform councillors in these areas are not reflective of the people of these areas.
On a personal level, donate to local food banks in your area and make sure that any disabled and elderly people in your life are able to access their medication and basic necessities under the benefits cuts that are most likely going to come. As well as this, keep and eye on what your council is actually doing, I know it doesn’t seem like a huge thing, but we mustn’t stop scrutinising them even after they’ve been in power for months or years, keep watch for every cut they try and pass, for every Islamophobic and xenophobic comment they make and email them about it, make their jobs fucking miserable.
