“I miss him terribly.”

“I do too.”

That gave the balding man pause.  Caesar turned to his historical counterpart with a raised eyebrow.

“You never met him,” he said, frowning.  Cesar shrugged from the backs of the two legionary recruits he’d been lounging on.

“No, but every time you think about him, you get like this.  I’d prefer he’d be around; you’d be in a better mood.”

“Bah,” Caesar said, throwing up his hands.  “This is useless.”  The former Follower rubbed his face with both hands, then threw them at his sides petulantly.

 “Oh Joshua… If only I hadn’t done those horrible things to you.  If only you could forgive me.”

“He must have been quite a man,” Cesar said thoughtfully.  “I think I am envious.

“Everyone was envious of Graham,” Caesar sighed.  “I think that’s why I did the things I did to him.  Jealousy.”

The time anomaly shook his head slowly.  His gold laurel leaves glinted in the dim light as he tilted his head.  “Is it true?  Does the Burned Man walk?” 

Sallow’s hands found his head again, attempting to massage the spot that always hurt so.  The pain had increased as time had gone on… ever since…

“Yes,” he answered finally. 

“Then go to him.  I’d go with you, but I’m afraid I find myself growing faint just thinking of approaching such a fine man.”

Again, Caesar threw his hands up in the air.  “I can’t.  It would look weak.  I can’t be weak.” 

“You’re weak without him.”

“I know!” 

“What did he do to you that makes you pine for him so?”  Cesar said with a shaking head.

Cesar’s eyes flashed at that, a grimace danced across his expression.  But after a moment, it settled to an almost wistful look. 

“He’d tell me in that deep, rumbling voice that I lead the Legion.  I reached for him and…
