“Are you beautiful?  Of course, you are, sweetheart.  Why would you think you weren’t?”  Frank gingerly lifted the woman’s hand to his lips, gently kissing it.  

There was a momentary pause as his eyes slowly glided up, meeting the women’s eyes.  Frank’s heart skipped a beat as he watched her remove the mask.  It wasn’t horrific, maybe being in the fog had made the facial mutilation seem so minor compared to all the body horror he had witnessed before.  But something else was wrong and he couldn’t tell what it was, but it made his entire body freeze.  Something was wrong, and whatever it was, he had chosen the wrong answer to whatever was being asked of him.       

“Hmm...” Frank looked over the woman in front of him, squinting at the mask that hid her lower face from view, “Ya’know, ya’ could look worse, I suppose.  Not exactly my type, but that doesn’t mean you’re not attractive.  So...sure?”
