Thank you for these kind words! promised was the first (and I think only) Omega Eris Vanserra tag on AO3 when I made it, so I agree it’s rare. There’s another longer fic that features Eris as omega. It’s called The High Lady, the Shadowsinger and the Omega.
I agree re: not wanting to depict Eris as a stand-in for a female in an MM ship. I tried hard to walk that line and give him the “softer/more vulnerable” side of an omega balanced with the fact that he’s a powerful and magical male, a High Lord’s son, and war general.
I strived to show that the relationship between power, gender (secondary), and sex are not easy, all-or-nothing binaries. They’re intersectional and more of an “and” versus “or” situation.
So Eris can be both High Lord’s heir: immensely powerful in magic and body, high in societal status, and omega—the one who categorically “receives” in a sexual relationship and are by definition (although that’s AU dependent) more submissive.
Azriel can be alpha, warrior, spymaster, muscled Shadowsinger AND vulnerable and insecure—pining for intimacy and romance.
I’m yapping. But I am glad some of this came out in my story and appreciate you reading 🖤
