Cactus Practice -- Tori Amos((Everytime I see a new post in the Sage II/Tipsy Tonic saga, this song starts playing in my head.))
Little Jolt of Horrors
Tipsy sat in the back of the same cab she had taken out to Trayvon Rider's office, now on its return trip to the bar, optics all but off as her processor worked overtime. Court. Testifying. The only frame of reference she had for those things was constructed out of newspaper articles and their accompanying pictures. She couldn't imagine herself there. But she had too. The bar--
The cab driver swore and jerked the steering wheel to the right, swinging the car onto a side street. Tipsy's eyes flashed as she tilted, throwing out a few long hands to stop herself from falling over. She had just enough time to see splashes of red and blue down the road before they disappeared behind a corner.
"Jus' a quick detour, get around the accident," the cab driver said, meeting Tipsy's optics with a glance in the rear view mirror. The bartender slowly nodded, and she wrapped one hand around the interior handle of her door.
The cab swung around another corner-- Tipsy was ready for it that time-- and pulled past a couple of tall trucks only to be confronted with a construction bottleneck, unseen from the top of the street. The driver hissed expletives as she hooked a look over her shoulder, finding that they were already hemmed in.
Trapped. Outside. In traffic. Cool horror washed over Tipsy as she leaned back, the picture of this car ride becoming an unending Purgatory quickly taking shape. Oh hell. Oh hell. Willing herself to focus on anything but her panic, she dared a look through her window, thinking maybe there was something--
Immediately she optics focused on the closest shop front, reading the painted glass. Refueled. That sounded familiar. Shi. Shi had mentioned this place. This was an automaton place. Something about food and... plants? That didn't make any sense. Whatever. She'd take it.
The appropriate bills were quickly handed up to the driver-- "Thank you very much, but might I get out here instead?"-- and with a crooked brow and a shrug the door unlocked. Tipsy carefully lifted herself out, head turned pointedly to the ground, and gently closed the cab door behind her. She moved slowly, lifting her wheels one by one over every crack, until she made it to the door and dared to look up.

He smiled a little- at least Gage wasn't going to freak out on him. "She really is. I mean we got off on a bad start, but she's really neat. ... Thanks for being cool about it though. I didn't think you'd go running off to tell Jack or anything, but I appreciate you not mentioning it to him." He shakes his head. "But jeez, all I'm doing is talking about me. How've /you/ been?"
Gage shrugs his shoulders. “Ah, I’ve been just fine. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary going on right now - but that suits me alright. Still too much work to do to relax, but I also count that as a good thing.”

ask-jack-and-jolt replied to your post: ((I’m pretty much allergic to all metals, but...
((I’ve found that clear nail polish helps. You have to reapply it fairly often for things frequently worn, and I’ve never tried it on anything too expensive, but it’s been useful for keeping different metals from breaking me out or turning me green))
((yeah, I dunno if it's just my hot sweaty bod or what, but every time I've tried this, the clearcoat came off in, at most, an hour. It was brutal on the earrings I wore to my graduation ceremony, burned like hell.))
((It's okay Jolt, I still love you. ; ;
Sorry Em, my pen slipped.))
