YES!! I love Grant and Alucard. I used to roleplay Alucard here on tumblr but there was never anyone writing Grant when I was active haha.
I was sort of captivated by the dynamic of a princely Alucard who doesn’t have a lot experience with the world outside Dracula’s Castle and Grant as this man of the people who can introduce him to it. Who can help him feel more connected to his mother’s people.
though, I admit, I ship it mostly as a depressing “what could have been” thing that Alucard can never quite stop thinking about completely. Alucard leaves pretty soon after Dracula’s defeat to seal himself away. I think it would be only after SOTN, after Maria convinces him not to go back to sleep, that he would start thinking about what he might have had with Grant if he stayed.
Alucard missed the lives of some of the truest friends he ever managed to make and I doubt think he could ever fully get over the melancholy that thought would bring him. He knows why he did what he did, but the more Maria convinces him it’s unnecessary the more painful it is to him.
