Evening came and went, and Inkopolis was soon blanketed in a darkness illuminated by street lights and neon signs. Pearl had finally finished up work for today. Although she was sill feeling energetic enough to stay awake, much like her beloved city, the heat of the day had not yet dissipated.Â
Tying her tentacles back with her crown, Pearl said her good-night to Marina and waved her off before stepping outside. The night was still young, and she was ready to have a little fun! But what could she do? As she adjusted her crown to sit in a more comfortable position, Pearl’s eyes landed on the neon fish-shaped signs outside of the warehouse Grizzco was stationed in.
Maybe a Salmon Run or two could be fun! She considered asking Marina along briefly, but remembered that the Octoling already had plans for the night. Shrugging, Pearl trotted towards the alleyway. However, once Grizzco was in view, her body slumped.
Oh yeah, it closed earlier that evening. Heaving a sigh and rolling her head back over her shoulders, Pearl shuffled to the schedule plastered on the grate. Although she was looking over the times, she wasn’t really reading them as her mind began to wander, wondering what she could do this late at night.Â
That was when she started smelling something weird. Pulled from her thoughts, she looked around, brow creasing as she took in deep breaths. What was that... Gasoline? A bit of smoke? Her hearts jumped a little. That wasn’t a normal thing to smell around here, was it?
Against her better judgement, however it wasn’t as though she ever had much judgement to begin, Pearl began to investigate the area, following her nose, which scrunched up the closer she got to the pungent smell of gasoline.Â
