Even if I did "steal" Bailey Bass as a face claim (I didn't. Some people just happen to also use her as a fancast for Lenore Dove) why would that matter?

In what way would it affect the world negatively if I saw a fancast for a canon character and I went "oh that's a good face. My OC should have the same face"?

ooooo who to pick? You know what I'll talk a bit about my new idea for a How to Train your Dragon OC:

So this is Gunna (she/them) I currently haven't got any finished art of them (I've been busy getting ready for artfight lol).

Their father is from Berk, and their mum is from the East. They had an older brother, but he died during dragon training a year prior to the first movies events. Gunna's still in the grieving process and was hesitant to join in on dragon training because they couldn't stop thinking about their brother.

Gunna is a researcher at heart. They enjoy testing the reactions different types of dragon venom have when combined with other things. They're a bit of loner, but grow past this after the first movie.

Their dragon is an og dragon spieces I'm currently calling a Crystal Mist. Gunna's dragon is called Dawnchaser because of his colors (pink, yellow and white) reminding Gunna of a certain time while the sun is raising.

Below are some moodboards I made to try and get the vibes of Gunna and Dawnchaser when I didn't feel like drawing.

Well, my number one song was Espresso, but I mostly blame that on the algorithm and how it kept getting recommended to me (still a jam tho).

I remember listening to it a lot when I was on holiday this year and thinking about Melody (Melinoe x Cody). I had just watched this really cute OC animatic and was basically imagining my own version over and over again during a boat ride.

gonna be real I'm way to emotionally attached to Anya Chalotra as the face of Melinoe lol. Although a while back I was talking about a genderbend version of Melinoe that I think Riz Ahmed could play really well. I think that was after I watched Nimona where he played Ballister (such a good movie btw).

Now love interest: I love Melody with all of my heart, but there is definitely another reality where Eglantine / Melinoe is the OTP of the story.

I've chatted with a friend about it and I always tell them: I didn't write Melinoe and Eglantine to be in love, but I wouldn't blame a reader if they came to that conclusion themselves.

Backstory

Sirona was born from a union between a man named Derül and the spirit of the Golden Willow Tree; Seileach (think Tom Bombadil's wife Goldberry, but rather than a river spirit Sirona's mother was a tree spirit).

She spent most of her younger years living in the forests near Rivendell. Where her mother taught her how to tend to and respect the natural world. While her father taught her how to survive and how to play various music from his family's home country.

I have a whole backstory in the works about why Derül and Seileach aren't present in Sirona's life by the time of the Lord of the Rings, but I'm still sorting out some stuff about that so I'll save it for another time.

By the time she was about 11 Sirona was living as a ward to a close friend of her father's family; a witch named Orla (name pending). Orla taught Sirona about magic and how to be a witch. The two of them travelled together for about 18 years until Orla passed away from old age.

Sometime after this she ended up getting tasked with getting Frodo and the rest of the hobbits to Rivendell.

One thing leads to another and Frodo ends up saving Sirona’s life by distracting the Ringwraiths, but ends up getting stabbed.

After getting to Rivendell and getting Frodo healed Sirona swears a life debt to Frodo to repay him for saving her life. Which leads to her joining the Fellowship.

Character

So Sirona is very stubborn and can be very hot-headed at times. She's used to taking care of herself and this results in what I'll call "cultural differences" between her and the hobbits.

A significant part of Sirona is she's often at odds with her ideals. She's torn between wanting to live life like a spirit versus wanting to be noble like her father (hence why she makes the debt when she's probs not emotionally prepared to). She also tends to take responsibility for everything when she really doesn't need to. She blames herself for Frodo's stabbing, the "death" of Gandalf and the death of Boromir.
