Ace was with Dahlia on a date. It had been a while since they had last seen each other, and Ace could barely look at her without turning red. She was such a beauty and to have her with him on a date, was something that he dreamed of nearly every night. Not that he would ever admit he was a romantic like that, because he wasn’t. It just happened that he had started to date a beautiful lady, that he couldn’t get out of his thoughts.

He had to pat his shirt a couple times from setting on fire when she held his hand, or when she called his name. Her voice, sounded like soft velvet, to his ears. He could listen to her talk all day. Which in this instance he was, but not particularly listening to what Dahlia was actually saying. Her fingers snapping him out of his daze was what brought him out of his daze. “Ah, sorry. You were saying Dahlia?”

His date, could only snort at the fire man’s lovingly expression. “I was saying what do you want to order. You usually can’t stick your nose out of the menu and here you are listening, or at least pretending to listen to me. Let’s order. We are on a date after all and you can’t survive on listening to me talk”

Ace would protest that he could totally survive on listening to her talk forever, but the growl from his stomach raises a small blush to his face, in seconds defeating his own mental argument. “You make a good point. And I was totally listening I was! I. Just couldn’t stop thinking how beautiful you looked this evening”

“I know you mentioned that many times Ace. I appreciate the sentiment, but I think you need to keep your eyes off of me for a second. You did walk into the restaurant wall earlier when we were coming in after all” Dahlia mentioned as she held her own menu open to order something.

Ace sincerely needed to get a grip. How could be so dorky and distracted in front of the girl he finally convinced to date him. What if it made him look bad? What if he wasn’t the cool and mysterious guy, he was trying to portray? What if she thought he was dorky and dumb and was getting ready to break up with him after one date. This was it. He had already failed and he barely started. He shook his head a bit trying to get the unhelpful thoughts out of his head. He couldn’t think like that. He wasn’t defeated yet. Ace could totally show he was dependable and that he would make a great boyfriend. “I right. That was my bad. I’m fine. I swear I won’t be distracted anymore tonight. I’ll focus I promise” He takes another look at the menu and wonders what to order. He wouldn’t mind ordering dish after dish, but then he wouldn’t have time for Dahlia. So he orders two entrees for himself when the waiter comes by and he listens as Dahlia orders too.

“I’m surprised you got the night off, Dahlia. I thought your crew was never going to let you go tonight” Ace says as he fixes the tie that he felt like was strangling him.

“Ah, yes. My crew was causing a tiny bit of trouble, but I wasn’t exactly going to miss my date with you, now could I? I bet you’d be beyond disappointed if I couldn’t make it” Dahlia said teasing her younger partner.

“I mean I would be lying if I wasn’t disappointed if you couldn’t come tonight. But all that matters is that you were able to come out and spend the night with me. After dinner would you like to go for a walk along the beach? I know its cheesy, but this town is famous for it’s black sand and white seashells against the sand. They say that some locals make giant chess boards with the seashells to play human chess for fun. I don’t know what exactly is fun with that, but sounds interesting.” Says Ace remembering seeing people on the beach earlier in the day playing around.

“That does sound like a interesting experience. Maybe we will get to experience it as we go on this-, as you said ‘Cheesy walk along the beach’” Dahlia was amused by how cheesy Ace was. Wearing a neat shirt for once with a tie, which was bothering him, but obviously putting in the effort to look nice for their date. Even his hair was slicked back in gel. He must have stood in front of the mirror for hours mused Dahlia to herself.

“Great! Well then that’s definitely where we are going after we finish our meal.” Their meals had arrived and Ace couldn’t help but slowly dig in. The food was amazing, but he had to mind his manners. Making polite conversation as they ate.

After their dinner, Ace paid for the meal, insisting on it. He held Dahlia’s hand and made their way along the beach. The sun was starting to set, casting a soft glow against them. It was probably just Ace, but he was feeling giddy just from holding her hand. It was unfair at how easily she invaded his mind and made him so unsure of himself when with her. Was this normal for how people felt when in love?

“Ace why don’t we sit over there? Take a moment of break before we continue our walk.” Dahlia pointed to a washed up tree log.

“Sure, why not.” Ace led her to the log and sat down next to her. “I hope…this evening has been enjoyable for you so far Dahlia. I mean it can only get better! Cause like its already great already, but-“

Dahlia’s soft laugh interrupts Ace’s rambling. “It’s been fine Ace. I’ve had a rather enjoyable evening with you. You don’t have to worry, I’ve enjoyed myself.” She could hear practically see the sense of relief that came from him.

“Well good. I’m glad” Ace looks at her and wonders if he could do it. He was brave, and they were on a date after all. So it wouldn’t be weird at all if he did it. “Dahlia?”

“Yes, Ace?” She turned to face him and sees him leaning in. She plays along and closes her eyes waiting for his lips to meet hers.

Ace sees her close his eyes and leans in. His lips a breath away before he panics and places a kiss on her nose. He sees her open her eyes a obvious surprised look upon her face before she bursts into laughter. Ace turns a fiery red flames dancing upon his shoulders. “W-why are you laughing?” Ace asks standing up obviously embarrassed.

“You are just so cute” She laughs at her adorable boyfriend.

“Nu-uh” Ace says starting to walk away trying to calm his flames.

“Oh, come back. You’re so cute. Come on I’ll help you this time. Come on. Or maybe you can give me a couple more kisses like that mr.fire first” Dahlia says teasing him as she follows after him.
