When the three of em do movie nights, they each have their own way of nitpicking. Jay nitpicks narrative and characters, Cole nitpicks choreography and fight sequences, and nya nitpicks vfx and music scoring

nya catches onto the comics jay’s reading and lowkey gets as into them as he is, cole is very supportive but the man doesn’t have a wink of what’s goin on

he’s very much the “are ya winning son” bf abt it

there’s three distinct flavors of dumbassery in this polycule and that depends on who’s got the braincell at any given time. when cole has the braincell, it’s Mad Scientist Dumbassery w/ jay and nya

when nya has the braincell it’s Gaymer Dumbassery from cole and jay

and, elusively, when jay has the braincell it’s Jock Dumbassery from cole and nya

they decide, on a whim, to see how many things they can both lift around the Bounty

jay just has to go “guys please that’s our couch

they go to cons together!! lloyd comes along too sometimes but he’s off doing his own thing usually

jay is a primo cosplayer, cole sometimes goes as himself and gets more photos than jay does. nya doesn’t cosplay very often but does buy the most merch, she’s actually got a denim jacket that’s just covered in pins and buttons and patches

it jingles when she walks and that’s how they find her when separated in a crowd

cole middle spoon RIGHTS btw, or else he’s just pulling them both in. sometimes jay is in the middle and squished

ohuhu... very inch resting... i feel like this’d happen if MoTO was a longer season than it actually was, like the invasion part happened in spurts and was relentless enough to drive the ninja away

but god now i’ve got the mental image of jay peeling off from the rest of the group and going on a rescue mission on his own... and the reunion with this sort of breathless “i knew it, i knew it wasn’t you who came back, i knew it”

Jay unlocked his powers after he realised that he didn't need to pretend to be someone he wasn't. This was *entirely* thanks to Nya. So when she suddenly wasn't sure she loved him in season 3? Yeah his self esteem probably exploded like Zane.

Speaking of Zane, he unlocked his true potential after remembering who he was. And then he exploded. And got rebuilt (btw, how??). Do you think, maybe, he doesn't quite feel like himself anymore?

Not sure about Kai and Cole, and I don't remember Lloyd ever having unlocked his (unless that was the golden power?) and Nya constantly needs a source of water to use her powers nowadays, so they look really weakened.

I feel like it would be a nice thing for the show to address.

yknow, that’s a highkey interesting concept that i really think would make for an interesting plot point in a season

also, while i’m still not sure abt cole and nya, i think kai’s reason for no longer having access to his true potential form is that he took on that form to protect lloyd, and at this stage of the game lloyd’s all grown up and doesn’t necessarily need protection...

this takes place between s4 and s5! i figure they’d have a lot to talk about after all that...

They’d been sitting there for hours, comfortable in each other’s company. It was the usual for them. Cole was honestly quite grateful that they got back to this sort of casual experience so quickly. He missed it. He missed Jay.

He could do without the guy just looking at him this whole time, though. What even was the expression on Jay’s face? Seemed like a combination of bewilderment and skepticism, which just made no sense to Cole.

Eventually, it bothered him enough for him to speak up about it, as both of them promptly died on the same level of their co-op game and Jay dropped the controller with a sigh before looking at Cole again. This time, Cold caught his eye.

“Okay, what’s up?” he asked, directly. Jay blinked owlishly at his sudden question.

“... whadaya mean?” Jay deflected simply.

“You’re staring at me. You’ve been staring at me all night, like I’m gonna do something weird. So… what’s up?” Cole elaborated, turning to face the lightning ninja properly. Jay shifted his seating slightly, hugging a knee to himself and glancing away. Cole frowned at that change in body language. Maybe something really was up.

“I… it’s just…” Jay started to say, scratching the side of his face in embarrassment. Then he looked back at Cole, expression still a bit skeptical. “You don’t hate me.”

Cole did a brief double-take. “I- what do you mean, I don’t hate you? Of course I don’t hate you, what reason would I even have to hate you?” This didn’t make any sense. Sure, they’d been feuding for a while recently, but Cole had never hated Jay. Not even through all that. Hell, he thought Jay hated him, even if it was mostly unfounded.

“Well- yknow! For getting so mad about Nya, and for starting that stupid fight in the first place! I just-“ Jay cut himself off with a sigh. “I feel stupid for getting so worked up over that at you when you weren’t even involved, especially since Nya and I sorta… dissolved after that.” He hugged his knee again, glancing back at Cole. “I feel like this whole thing we had could’ve been avoided if I wasn’t such a stubborn jerk that refused to apologize. I… I’d hate me if I were you.”

Cole’s face fell. He hadn’t a clue that Jay felt so bad about all this, to the point that he thought Cole would hate him for it. Not even close. “Aw, Jay…” he mumbled softly, and Jay looked away, frowning into the middle distance. Cole bit his lip, before scooting closer to Jay and wrapping his arm around his shoulders, pulling him against him in a quiet side-hug.

“Jay, I… I don’t think I could ever hate you. Even if you’re stubborn. Even if you’re annoying. Even if you make stupid mistakes sometimes. You’re my best friend in the world, alright? And that’s not ever gonna change, no matter what you’re like. No matter how many fights we have. You matter too much to me to just… hate you.”

“...o-oh,” Jay responded, and Cole realized with a start that the boy had gotten all choked up, tears lightly staining Cole’s gi. Cole almost joined him at that, leaning around and wrapping both arms around Jay instead, sniffling. Jay took his own arms off his knee and returned the hug, hands ending up in Cole’s hair without really meaning it. Cole didn’t mind, honestly. He just held Jay there.

Jay sniffled again, regaining his composure, before letting go of Cole and looking at him again. Smiling kinda shyly. “Well, I’m… I’m glad. That you don’t hate me. Really, really glad. I know it technically goes without saying, but… yeah.”

Cole smiled right back, warm and welcoming to his best friend, whom he’d missed for a long-ass while.
