ask-slayer mentioned you on a post “Voter suppression and racism and Republicans: the conservative...”
@matchgirl42 so according to your logic hilarry is a conservative lol, guess crime is good when your side does it, the left always act as if they were free of sin, and thats why you deserve trump ,unless you change and grow, conservatives will kee pestering the us
First of all honey, this post was about voter suppression in Georgia, by the current Republican Secretary of State who is running for Governor. It’s corruption at it’s worst. A candidate is using his elected office to rig the current election in his favor. So I’m not sure why you wanted to drag Hillary Clinton into this, but since you brought it up...
The DNC did rig the Dem primaries in 2016 - which is how we ended up with a choice between Clinton vs Trump in the general, and not Sanders vs Trump in the general, which I still maintain to this day is why Trump was able to win. Because Clinton vs Trump was a much closer race than Sanders vs Trump would have been. Which means the shenanigans and fraud that Trump’s campaign pulled was able to succeed in a close race where they wouldn’t have in the case of Sanders vs. Trump. So if you’re looking for someone to blame Trump on besides the people who actually voted for him, look no further than the DNC.
And yes, I swallowed my disgust and voted for Hillary in the 2016 general. So no, I don’t “deserve” Trump. Nobody “deserves” Trump and what he’s doing to this country.
The problem with the DNC is that they are mostly centrists/establishment politicians, while conservatives are far-right. Which means that in some narrow cases - such as LGBTQIA issues - the two parties are different. But in other cases, the parties may as well just be the same.
But the time to address that is in primary elections, not general elections. Just like what happened with the primaries this year, where several establishment democrats lost primary challenges to actual progressive candidates, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, Ben Jealous in Maryland, Jared Polis in Colorado, and Kara Eastman in Nebraska. But now we’re in the general elections, and it is CRUCIAL to vote blue, all the way down the ticket. Even if it’s an establishment democrat.
That’s what many don’t seem to understand - the general election is not about challenges within the party. In Game of Thrones terms, think of it in terms of a pack. The summer times - the primaries - are the time for squabbles within the pack. But when winter comes - the general elections - that’s the time for the pack to stand united.
You wanna know how England was able to defeat both the Irish and the Scottish?
Because in both cases, they were too busy fighting amongst themselves to provide a united front against the English.
And if you, or anyone else, are so worried about the health of the Democratic party, your energy and time might be better served volunteering, helping actual progressive candidates during the primary challenges and any general campaigns they are running in, helping develop and elect progressive candidates, and actually paying attention and voting in more elections that just the presidential general election every four years.
Because if you wait to complain every four years, that’s all you’ll do - complain, and pick fights on the internet with people who are already on your side, during the worst possible moment when it will do the most damage,
