[Send me āBlack Birdā for a darker memory of my museās past.]
Having the chance to go back to Aizu, Megumi visited the place where she grew up. It was a haven of her best and most painful memories.
Standing upon the hill where their house used to be, memories starts to flash before her eyes. She was twelve years old back thenā¦
Warā¦Chaosā¦Painā¦Death
Father, why do you have to leave?
Your father died while serving as doctor in the battlefield.
Mother, why are you and brother leaving too? Will you promise to come back for me?
Your mother and two brothers served as doctors in the battlefield too and they had gone missing.
Why are they all leaving me? Does nobody want me? Do they not love me?
You are now alone Megumi. You have no one. No one wants you.
No! I donāt believe you. They will be back for me.They promised.
You are so naive. Why donāt you just accept the truth? Now run away from here. No one is coming back for you. Get that in your head.
My mother said to wait for them inside the house and never go out until they arrive. So I will wait.Ā
You are crazy. Do you want to die here? Stop crying and save yourself.
Then there wasā¦fireā¦criesā¦screamsā¦death. It was everywhere. She can smell it. Is it coming for her too? If her family is never really coming back then maybe she should just die as well. How can she live without them?
Get out of here Meg-chan! *A neighbor knocked hardly on her door.* They are burning the entire village. Come with us. Your mother left you to us.
A scared and hopeful young Megumi tearfully left the house that love built. She hasnāt gotten far when the house burned.
All of a sudden, the world she loved and treasured the most crumbled down to ashes. It was a bad nightmare that she wouldnāt want to wake up from. In a blink of an eye, she was aloneā¦really alone.
Sitting down on the empty hill now, Megumi cried all the tears that she wasnāt able to cry for her father, her mother, her brothers and for herself.
