Problem is is that it is still very likely for a white woman to go to prison. It is realistic. And it makes sense.
Problem is, while there are almost as many white women as black women in prisons right now, people of color are still more likely to be racially profiled on the streets, more likely to be discriminated against in the legal process, more likely to be taken into custody for petty crimes, and more likely to be treated worse in the prison system.
Problem is, there are so many fucking movies and shows out there with white leads, and I'm literally sick and tired of there not being enough shows to highlight actors and actresses of color. Yeah sure it's very likely for a white woman to go to prison, whatever. It's also just as likely for a black woman to go to prison, so why go with yet another white actress?
And don't even get me started on reverse racism, oh-because-she's-the-best-fit-for-the-role bullshit. Or better yet, "omG that's, like, racial stereotypes that is sooo offensive to black people!"

I don't understand the problem.
I just posted a brief explanation as a reply to my friend, but this:
"I’m not sure how important the white actress is going to be to the series, but yeah, royally pisses me off that even in a series like this one about prisons, they’re putting a female white woman as the face of the show. Like, on a scale from 1 through realistic, that’s complete bullshit."
Well hey. It took me a long time to realize how much I truly loved myself for who I was. And I would forget why I loved myself and start hating myself. But the cycle always repeats. But the cycle always changes. And I am sure that you will end up getting where you need to be. Because you are awesome. And attractive. And super cool. Like Edwin Booth.
Oh trust me... I know how fickle self-esteem/confidence can be. When I feel shitty I just have to remind myself, this too shall pass.
I'm still learning to forgive past me for being an idiot and start fresh. Â I will have bad days. The important thing is not to dwell on them and strive to have more good days. Â

Life is not great, I definitely have low moments, but I'm getting better. Things didn't work out the way I planned, but I'll get it right someday.
