                                                         𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑  ,

        it’s funny.  admittedly, he hasn’t thought about that incident in a while—but when he receives this question, he knows exactly what they’re referring to.

        that night:  several drinks in his system, a coincidental reunion between two distant friends.  hazed memories dot those late hours, yet one memory resists the test of time.  it’s vivid, though a bit awkward to remember.

        “there are two types of people in this world:  those who have secrets, and liars.  take us, for example.”  he makes a nonsensical gesture with a stray potato chip.  “you obviously have a secret.  your identity.  i, on the other hand, am an open book.  you can ask me anything, and i’ll give you an honest answer.  i don’t believe in secrets.”  lisa pops into his mind, then yugyeom, then his grandfather—all recent happenstances that he’d much rather keep hush-hush.  secrets, indeed.

i.  implied torture

he emerges from the cramp, windowless room reeking of blood and piss.  it’s not his own  ( never his own ),  but the stench is foul enough to turn heads on his way out. 

𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗬 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥  !

        “that’s an intimate question.”  he cocks his head, his eyes staring at you, through you, without a glint of amusement.  and for some time, it doesn’t seem like he’d answer:  he stays perfectly still, his steady gaze akin to that of a bored participant, his lips sealed shut.

       he weighs the consequences, the threats.

        and decides there are none.

       “as you may have realized – or not, if you’re not keen on observation – i will trust someone until they give me a reason not to trust them.”  he leans forward ever so slightly, his fingers stringing together to rest against his chin.  "reasons such as my intuition, your affiliation, or if you decide to betray me . . which would not be in your benefit.  that, i can guarantee.“  he speaks softly, slowly, and with unrivaled eye contact.  ( has he blinked?  you’re not entirely sure. )  "my method of operation comes with a high risk.  a lot of us here on myeongcho would betray, given the opportunity to.  morale is substandard.”

       he stops, his eyes flickering down your form before returning to your curious gaze.

                                                           𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑 ,

        one flaw he has  ( and he would argue that he doesn’t have many )  is that he’s not as tech-savvy as his peers.  up until high school, his parents had kept him on a strict schedule that barely left him with any free time—and this so-called “free time” was usually spent catching up on his studies.  needless to say, he didn’t have time to spare on social media, save for the occasional weekend instagram updates.  nowadays, he has a bit more freedom and thus, a few more apps.
