Yeah, so, I couldn't resist, these questions are too awesome!! :) :) For the Sherlock Holmes ask meme, could I ask 3, 4, 7, and 11 :) ? Also I'd adore it if you asked me some back :) :)
Thank you for asking!! :> ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ
3. Least favourite aspect of the Canon/aspect of the Canon you'd improve if you could?
- Definitely the racism. I want SIGN but with Tonga written as an actual person instead of some curious natural phenomenon. The story would be so much better even just on a technical level, never mind in the sense of not reinforcing RL bigotry.
4. Favourite secondary character?
- Violet Hunter! Plucky, ginger, not conventionally beautiful (face full of freckles "as a plover's egg" in an era when freckles were viewed as a blemish), smart, an orphan who helps a parental abuse survivor - what's not to love? And she has a lovely name to boot. The understated, hidden beauty of forest violets and a hunter's instinct about sum her up :)
7. If you had unlimited money and creative freedom, what kind of adaptation/related narrative would you create? Be as vague or specific as you like.
- My god I'm not even going to lie, I'd make a sequel to Murder Rooms. Possibly televise The Dark Water and then make another, final, installment. In which Bell and Doyle hug at some point.
If we're talking strictly stuff that features Sherlock Holmes as a character, hm, I think I'd make a Canon-era remix of some stories or maybe some entirely new adventures. Low-key, case of the week style, not something huge and world-changing. No Holmes vs Moriarty or Holmes vs Jack the Ripper or all those other super dramatic plots pastiche authors love. Holmes would be canonically aroace and Watson would be canonically bi. There would be a lot of cuteness and epic friendship.
11. If you were able to, would you bend fire pokers as a show of strength? Why or why not?
- You better believe it! I'd keep a bunch of them at home specifically for the purpose of impressing my guests. It'd be my party trick number 1. Why the fuck wouldn't you show off if you can bend an entire ass fire poker in half? Roylott was wasting his talents on being an abusive piece of shit. He should've signed up to perform in a circus with his poker-bending abilities and made a ton of money that way instead of murdering his step-daughters for their inheritance.
