winter has always been your favorite time of the year 

ever since you were a kid, you couldn't help but look forward to the season of giving 

from the hot chocolate, gingerbread cookies, last minute gift shopping, being forced to meet up with extended family

almost everything during the holiday season brightens you up 

you usually enjoy all aspects of it

only this time you won't be going home 

nostalgia is something you usually like, 

for example listening to an old song that brings up once forgotten memories

when you walk around town, you can't help but notice families enjoying time together and seeing the joy in their faces

you're happy for them and everything, but it does tend to hurt you a bit on the inside

studying at your dream university in Korea has forever been unachievable

and somehow, the stars must have all aligned because you were accepted 

you knew it was inevitable to not get home sick, and you managed so far this past year

but something about this time hits you harder than you would've liked 

of course you were planning to visit your family, but sometimes things don't go to plan

you were a little too late to the annual flight sales because of your finals

and buying a full fare ticket isn't really possible when it's a third of your next semesters payment

that’s how you end up moping around in your dorm room

your roommate flew back home yesterday, leaving you alone

which you aren't too fond off 

but in the afternoon, you decide to go out for lunch just to clear out your mind

after lunch, as you walk through the streets of Seoul,

you're bound to get passed flyers 

it's usually for gym memberships and/or clubs, 

you weren't interested in either 

until this one lady passed you one for a dance studio

for whatever reason, you were tempted to join the class

so here you are a couple days later, inside the studio

the dance studio look pretty nice actually, even cutely decorated with stockings and lights 

even a little tree in the corner 

turns out, your first class is free, and who doesn’t get excited over free things

then your eyes happen to spot a familiar face 

Kwon Soonyoung 

a dance major at your uni, has 12 friends which he's usually with, who refer to him as Hoshi

"Y/n? Is that you?"

‘why does he even recognize me? And out of all the places, why here?’ 

you cursed to yourself, wanting nothing more than to hide under that tree

"Heyyy! It’s cool seeing you here, are you taking classes here too?"

"Oh! I'm actually the dance instructor here!" he answers grinning 

oh god, what a small world we live in

before you could apologize for mistaking him as a student, the class starts

not gonna lie, you found it pretty enjoyable 

you not being used to this feeling, stumble a bit in the beginning 

but after Soonyoung comes over and personally guides you, your pretty decent

not to mention the heart fluttering feeling of him gently running his hand down your arm

as class ends, Soonyoung adds that you could stay back and practice with him 

you agree, not having any plans, 

plus Soonyoung is incredibly fun 

he comes over to you, pointing out your mistakes and guiding you through them

you’ve had one class with him before, and even then you thought he was cute 

that was it though, you guys only said simple ‘heys’ around campus

but with him constantly being in your personal space, your heart was fluttering

"What are you doing teaching classes instead of going back to your hometown?"

"Well, my parents are enjoying a well deserved trip in Europe and my sister is quite busy with work"

"Comforting, knowing I'm not the only one alone at this time"

he offers you an encouraging smile

“Well I’m about to leave, you could totally come with me” 

you raise your brows, crossing your arms 

“Your asking as?” 

your not sure if he could tell, but you definitely felt something 

that same feeling you felt from a few years ago when you thought he was cute 

"A date, if you want it to be" he replies quietly

he looks at you hopefully

that alone makes you smile

taking your silence as reluctance, he continues 

"You're not going to spend the holidays sad and alone. I won't allow it." 

giggling at his determination, “That’s a bold statement for having our first real conversation today” 

but that’s not a no 

so you two walk, comfortably talking about meaningless things 

you have no clue where your headed, letting him lead you 

but you immediately burst into laughter as the two of you come up to his doorstep 

“Our first date and your already bringing me to your place?” 

his ears turn red quickly, inappropriate thoughts definitely running through his mind 

“This is just a casual, f-fun date,” he stutters defensively 

just in a matter of a few hours, Kwon Soonyoung managed to make this holiday memory into one of the best 

“Yah, Soonyoung seriously you can’t add the butter and flour in at the same time!” 

“I got this. I watch food network” 

he glares confidently at the bowl 

“it looks like food network hasn’t taught you much” 

“it’s taught me this” 

without warning, he sticks his hand in the bag of flour, 

and prints his hand on your face,,

you gape at him while he bursts into giggles 

“oh YOU WANNA GO” 

you really really wish you were fast enough to get a handful flour and throw it at him 

you weren’t 

he grabs your wrists, a smirk plastered on his face,

backing you against the counter 

for the first time that night, you didn’t have a sharp comment to say back, 

speechless as all you can think of is his breathe falling on your cheeks

and him watching your doe eyes widen, leans closer and whispers

“i would kill for some mistletoe right now” 

“you don’t need it” 

your voice comes out breathless 

the air is tense 

neither of you guys close the gap 

instead he leans away from you grinning 

“fine i’ll let you take over with the Christmas cookies”

you feel as if you can finally breathe, your heart slows back to its original pace

but your not letting him get off that easy, for making you feel like this

this time, you grab his wrists, pulling him towards you

your chests only a few centimeters away from each others when you lean up

pressing your lips to his cheek

and leaning back, you smile cheekily at him, satisfied by his baffled expression

“that’s what we should’ve agreed on in the first place”
