in march i went to the rodeo and got to hear counting stars - onerepublic. i didn’t just choose this for its popularity (altho the 2 billion+ views on the vid speaks for itself) but because my dad and i used to jam to it all the time together and i was able to video ryan’s sweet sweet live vocals (yes, the falsetto™ is real, and it is beautiful) and send it to my dad who was thousands of miles away. it felt like he was really there with me and i’m forever grateful to the power of music

in may i had the opportunity to see hamilton: an american musical - lin manuel miranda with my own two eyes and i’m still shook to this day

in september i went to perhaps the best concert ever??? spoiler alert: it was reputation. a lot of things were going on in my life at the time and the beginning of that month was the hardest time i’ve ever gone through to date, but being at that concert surrounded by so many amazing people brought light and joy at a time when i needed it most. the song i’m choosing is wonderland - taylor swift, because it was the surprise throwback song and i honestly thought i’d never hear it live in my entire lifetime. it reminded me of the road trips where i played it on repeat and that sense of childlike fantastical wonder where life is an adventure and fairy tales come true
