Can you guess what this is? These firm crispy slices of a peeled Hitachi Ryujin persimmons (常陸竜神柿) speckled with brown spots of sophisticated sweetness. Was fortunate to be able to try these rare beautiful Hitachi Ryujin persimmons after a colleague who is an OB of Tokyo University of Agriculture told me of a venture that producers and the university have been collaborating on. I heard that restaurants with Japanese fine dining serve these persimmons for dessert to refresh your palate. My own family is small, but I’m cooking for 19 people who will gather, creating a wonderful intentional family of friends. Yesterday, I harvested all the remaining persimmons from our trees and finished my pies. Those trees have treated countless neighbors and random passerby who knock on my front door to inquire about the curious orange fruit. Their numbers grow each year, and the trees seem to bear more bountifully in response to those who appear, hoping to sample their sweet gift. Thinking about the interconnectedness of all beings, and holding all of you with love, in my heart. This is not a tomato...but a #Persimmon #Fruit.🍅 It tastes somewhat like a ripe mango/papaya. Its my first time to see and taste this kind of fruit so i thought of googling it to know more about it. With that, i would like to share that there are different persimmons but this one is similar to the #JapanesePersimmon or #AsianPersimmon which Japanese call #Kaki. Anyways, this fruit is available in #Baguio now. So if you are in the area, go and grab some.👍😊 its yummy and healthy.😃
