This city was very contradictory. The way it worked was bizarre, and the locations varied and interesting. But the people? As far as Darrell was concerned, nothing unusual-- it was almost surreal how boring they all were. He idly bit the straw of his half-empty milkshake as he watched people pass him by. Basic-looking human in casual clothes, basic-looking human in work clothes, basic-looking human in casual clothes, basic-looking human in-- wait.
Those clothes. He jumped to his feet but the person was already too far for a second look. “Hey, get back here!”
It was hard to figure out where he was going, with only the person’s hat visible as he shoved his way closer. She was hustling like she had somewhere to be, and he almost lost sight when she broke out of the crowd into a side street. It took a moment to adjust to the sudden... quiet tension once he got away from the crowd. “Hey!”
Darrell jabbed a finger towards the woman, panting less out of a need for oxygen and more to express his excitement.
“Are you... a real cowboy?”
