Because I have been told that I should clarify! If I describe someone as being "exiled to the rainforest," with or without scare quotes, what that means is "shipped off to a two square mile patch of uninhabitable land owned by the R of A because nobody cared enough to do anything else with it, where they will die in three days because there is no potable water there and they aren't allowed to take anything with them." I do not mean "sent somewhere that people might have to actually live" and I do not mean "let off lightly," I mean "sentenced to death in a way that is politically expedient."

I don’t know how much news you guys get from Asfat (the republic this time), but one of their blues said publicly a few weeks ago that he’d had a kid, he didn’t marry the kid’s mother but he really really loved her, it was out of caste but the kid’s a boy so he’s blue too, he was going to be acknowledging the kid, so if a blue-haired kid appears out of nowhere it’s not a kidnapping don’t be worried about it, etc etcÂ
and the pictures were published today and the kid’s half-redÂ
they’re letting him be a blue and everything! apparently since he’s a blue and he’s showered twice a day since his mom died a year ago (and his dad’s important) he’s clean enough to acknowledge, nobody wants to be anywhere near the dad and I can’t imagine the kid is going to find himself employable when he’s of age but holy shitÂ

the rainforest thing isn't actually something my country does anymore — that's the Republic of Asfat, I'm from the Principality.
well, my favorite movie is the Shian Epechi version of A Summer’s Tale. (look it up if you haven’t seen it - content warning for faked death of a child)Â
what outsiders might not know about my country - the Principality and the Republic split apart about ninety years ago. there was a war over it, obviously, and the Republic only won because the reigning Prince at the time thought it was a good idea to visit the front lines, and he got hit with a bullet and died and there was an immediate succession crisis. the Republic covers about two-thirds of the old Principality’s landmass and has more than three times our population, not counting the patch of rainforest that the old Principality used to own and nobody really cared enough to fight over.Â
I have literally no idea if this is true in the rest of the world or if Asfat is just weird, but here intercaste kids have the same caste as the parent of matching sex. (i.e., I'm a girl so I'm an orange like our mom, but my brother is a boy so he's a yellow like our dad.) so for everyone who wanted to know how an orange has a yellow brother, that's how.
