Almost all the Legendary Pokemon are entirely understandable. They’re like Discworld’s Death - a fundamental force of nature personified. It’s one of the oldest and simplest mythological archetypes.
Ones that don’t fit that mold tend to just be stronger and rarer than average beasts - which there are plenty of in mythology and fiction in general.
The only exceptions are Mewtwo, Deoxys, and Genesect. Genesect and Mewtwo are monsters made by scientific progress gone mad, while Deoxys is an alien who rides meteors. I don’t see what’s impossible to comprehend about any of this.

Actually I used Bill Cipher as an example of a demon and how demons differ from eldritch abominations. Bill did have a few cosmic horror-y touches though - almost like the pitch for him was “What if the devil was a Lovecraft fan?”
But then, according to TV tropes Satan and demons and angels and Leviathan and Behemoth and Yaweh are eldritch abominations too, so *shruuuuuuuug*

i feel like tvtropes is singlehandedly responsible for diluting the meaning of eldritch abomination and i hate it (for a lot of reasons, but thats a big one)
I wouldn’t say single-handedly - it’s at least partly the fault of the Cthulhu Mythos seeing a resurgence of popularity over the past two decades or so - but I’d definitely say it’s a major contributing factory. When an immensely popular website that’s dedicated to categorizing and analyzing fiction decides that basically every monster ever is an eldritch abomination, people unfortunately listen.

No, I just kind of glossed over it. My issues were GREAT and VARIED. And going under a cut for spoilers and just general “opt in” shit. This ask is ten months old and I stopped reading the series some time before that, so my opinions are a bit spotty at this point. Still, if you don’t want to see some criticism about FABLES, you can skip on by.
I have a lot of problems with how the series handles race for one. Every single person of colour in the series, when they appear at all, is reduced to a series of cultural stereotypes or Being Evil. There’s precisely no reason why there couldn’t be POC in the main cast of Fabletown Fables. Beyond that medieval/fairy tale-esque Europe was not a giant White People Only club, the story could have easily used its own universe’s rules to challenge those assumptions and ideas. Of course that necessitates the creator even think to do so in the first place and well.
Then there’s the women of Fables. They’re little more than rewards for the male characters, which I found particularly disappointing considering how much I was enjoying Snow White in the game.
And Snow is probably my greatest problem with the series really. She was, at least, my breaking point, where I just couldn’t swallow it any more, despite how interesting I found the general ideas.
WHERE TO BEGIN. There’s the utterly creepy way that Snow and Bigby hook up. And that’s not good for him either, don’t get me wrong, but everyone’s general lack of reaction to the circumstances surrounding  them very much leaves the impression that it’s a non-issue for them. Meaning Bigby gets what he’s wanted most this whole time – that being Snow White – functionally handed to him as a reward for being the protagonist, and she gets …
WELL LET’S CONSIDER WHAT SHE GETS.
She loses the position of power and all the work she’s been doing tirelessly, for centuries, when (if I remember right, and I may well not at this point I grant) she’s on the cusp of finally getting the recognition she’s due.
She loses her home, her friends, her entire support structure.
She’s forced into exile, to The Farm, which is essentially a prison colony, populated by dangerous Fables who have every reason to hate her, WHO HAVE NOTABLY TRIED TO KILL HER.
She alone is left to raise like seven superpowered children, functionally by herself.
What does Bigby get?
TO RUN ALL OVER THE FUCKING WORLD HAVING SEX AND ADVENTURES AND BROODING EVERYWHERE
The whole fucking thing was about Poor Bigby. About his daddy issues, about his angst and heartbreak from not being allowed at The Farm to be with Snow and his numerous children. There were SO MANY WAYS to have resolved this issue while simultaneously addressing the actual real moral problems of The Farm. Instead, the story chose to care only about what all this personally means to Bigby while everyone just shrugs and says “Well I guess.” It’s dripping with so much fucking manpain I’m surprised each issue didn’t come with a squeegee to clean up after. Snow literally loses EVERYTHING and is abandoned with a near impossible set of tasks in hostile and unfamiliar territory, but FABLES stops caring about her the second Bigby “wins” her. From that point onward she’s a prop in his frankly far less interesting story. And him fucking off for like ten years or whatever ISN’T EVEN A THING. The second he comes back it’s just “Now we can be a family, bliss and contentment.” EVEN HIS FUCKING KIDS DON’T GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT THEIR MOTHER AND SHE’S LITERALLY ALL THEY’VE EVER KNOWN
I don’t know if Bigby is the author’s self-insert or what, but that guy is so in love with him (and by extension Wolverine, BECAUSE BASICALLY THAT’S WHO BIGBY IS) so fucking hard I swear to god.
I’ve forgotten specifics on most every other major female character in the story (all four of them), but yeah. It became too much for me to ignore some of the creator’s more unpleasant beliefs and general treatment of anyone not a white dude. I think the concept is fantastic, and I was really interested in the overall storyline. But issue by issue, my tolerance for the delivery of the story was chipped away, until the parts I found interesting just couldn’t overcome the stuff i was hating, and I stopped reading.
