Blast from the past
I bought a Super Famicom Asciipad from Japan along with some Neptunia artbooks recently. I paid just 150 yen, but you get what you pay for; while it works, it was absolutely filthy. So I rolled up my shirt and went to cleaning. I:
Removed the pcb and dipped every other piece in a bowl of soapy water for 24 hours straight
Scrubbed the pcb with 99% isopropyl dipped cotton swabs until all dust and grime was removed
Used a mr clean magic eraser to further scrub the controller casing, buttons and contact pads of 20+ years of grime
Finally, did a Retr0bright treatment to the casing and buttons to restore it as close to the original condition as possible.
Here is the result. Also for comparison, the Super NES version of the Asciipad.
