There aren’t many Qunari in the ranks of the Inquisition, so those that do make themselves at home here are quick to catch the attention of Ash. A spy by trade, he couldn’t help but hear the rumors of a new Qunari in the ranks, one that accompanied the Inquisitor no less. So of course he, like any information-greedy soul, set up shop to find out as much about her as he could.

It proved well worth the wait of greeting her, too. According to rumors between soldiers, she seemed to avoid people, to which Ash guessed might be from a language barrier? It’s not uncommon for Qunari to be hesitant speaking the common tongue, but of the conversations he’s eavesdropped on her grasp of it seemed quite fine. A mystery he was burningly curious about; And while curiosity may have killed the cat, satisfaction brought it back.

Séaghdha was ready to pull his hair out. All the books in the Inquisition's library, and not one could tell him what degree of pressure needed to be applied to blue quartz for it to resonate in harmony with spirit energy to light up very specific distant objects. Not one. As if it was a difficult question to answer.

He’d been trying to figure out the construction of the ocularums, reverse-engineer them to see if the same system could be used to illuminate items Elvhen in origin. But unlike the Venatori, he didn’t plan to use the skulls of Tranquil – or any other type of skull, for that matter. Unraveling how they’d done that hadn’t taken long at all. But reconstructing the technique humanely was proving... difficult. If only he had more books on Tevinter magic…

He shot up out of his seat, pages of the twelve some-odd books he had open in front of him fluttering in the sudden motion. The library near the vault, of course! When they’d first discovered Skyhold, the dusty old tomes locked inside had all been rare. Forgotten books of history and magic alike. If he was going to find obscure magical techniques, certainly his chances were better there.

He bolted off, rushing past Inquisition agents no longer fazed when their leader spontaneously ran about in excitement. Down the stairs he went, through the far door, slowing down just slightly while making his way through the main hall, and then down again to the keep’s lowest level. He was almost skipping across the stones to the door of the tiny library.

Then, Séaghdha remembered – or more like, saw – the Qunari who’d taken to the quiet alcove. Katari. New to their ranks, relatively quiet, guarded. Not that he could blame her, considering the situation she was in when they’d first met. He’d been hoping that, given enough time for trust in the organization to grow, she’d open up. He preferred to be friendly with his people.

‘My people.’ He scrunched his nose at the thought, chastising himself. ‘How egocentric sounding of you, Séaghdha.’ Putting his smile back on, he slowed to a respectable pace and knocked on the door frame to announce his presence.

          ✖ “I’m a little surprised, I didn’t expect to find a Qunari in the midst of the Inquisition, but then, this is a party of misfits, isn’t it?” The Talon comments, a voice out of shadow, grey eyes rising from the book in his hands to the woman lingering across the room. He shifts in his chair, a noise to announce his presence in the alcove he’d found refuge in a few hours before; it was a quiet place to stay while the Chantry was at its busiest, a place off to the side && private.

Akorad huffed as he swung his greataxe in an arc around him, practicing control.  It was a slightly more precise weapon than the maul he normally used, though not as precise as a sword.  The greataxe cleaved through a training dummy off to the side, and Akorad froze.  He hadn’t meant to actually hit it, and he looked about, clearly embarrassed.  Really, he’d meant to swing a comfortable distance from it!  This was what he got for not wearing his glasses.
