You can see me??!
So much going on in life right now! So many topics to discuss. So many new experiences! I could write all day...
But I'm at work and I like to look at least semi-productive.
So just a quick note....
My office has a gym and there was s sign for a complimentary assessment with a trainer so of course I signed up cause...free.
It was like 30 minutes long and admittedly my legs and arms are a little wobbly right now...and at one point I thought I was going to throw up... BUT it was an awesome 30 minutes. Lol
I'll call the trainer Rocko - a short black dude between late 30s-mid 40s with muscles. Rocko was on it. Of course I'm coming out the locker room very anxious. "Will he think it's me he's been emailing?" "Do I just look like a fat girl waddling around?!" "Will he misgender me?"
Soon as he saw me he dapped me up and hit me with the "What's up man!? You ready to do this?!". ..and then I know'd I be's safe.
Rocko was pumping me full of "Let's go champ!"s and "You got this bro!"s.
I felt very seen and it made me push harder!
I've worked with a lot of trainers over the years and it's always been positive but this was next level. This was black man to black man. He felt my pain lol. He saw me for me. And it was an experience.
Such a simple and quick interaction with such a big impact.
and he has no clue!
Other topics on my mind to write about: passing consistently, feeling weird being perceived as cis het after a lifetime of being gay, building man bonds in the suburbs, what it means to be a black man, wondering what life would be like had I transitioned earlier in life, being "found out" in certain situations, and plenty of other fun thoughts that cross my mind while I also try to just survive life and adulting in general lol.
More soon come.
