"Why haven't you kissed me yet?" + Gladnis. Finally crossing that line they've been flirting the edge of for months.
Hello again my darling, its me, going thru ancient prompts Iâve been hoarding for far too long!  Iâm sorry for the wait and I hope you enjoy some awkward nerds getting sappy <3
Ignis Scientia thought himself a patient man. The Six only knew he needed a plethora of patience to deal with Noctisâs teenage rebellions, to deal with the pontificating of the blowhards on the Council who treated him like a child just because he wasnât approaching his dotage. But even his vaunted patience could only go so far.
For weeks - months - heâd been doing his best to give off the right signals, to nonverbally indicate his interest. Astrals, heâd even devolved into actual flirtatious banter, but still nothing.
Gladiolus still hadnât made a move. Perhaps⌠Ignis had been mistaken, and his feelings werenât reciprocated?
All Ignis knew for certain was that it was tiring being âonâ whenever he was around the Shield, and further wearying to deal with the constant anxiety of not knowing when it would happen.
Enough of this. Heâd take matters into his own hands. A rueful smile quirked his lips as he settled on the course of action. Perhaps it had been a mistake to try and mimic the courtships of othersâ heâd observed. It could well have thrown Gladio off to have Ignis suddenly behaving so out of character. Well, no longer. He would be himself, and heâd have his answer.
Ignis made his way down to the training yard, knowing that is where Gladio was to be found this time of day. Sure enough, his comrade-in-arms was running through a training drill with a few new Crownsguard recruits.
Ignis sat on a bench off to the side and waited patiently, answering emails on his phone. He got so involved in his work that he didnât even realize the practice was over until Gladioâs shadow fell over him and his phone screen.
He looked up at Gladio. âGladiolus.â
âHey, Iggy,â Gladio said as he sat on the bench next to Ignis. âYou need somethinâ?â
âIndeed,â Ignis nodded. âAn answer.â
Gladio grinned and crossed his legs. âShoot.â
âWhy havenât you kissed met yet?â Ignis blurted out quite artlessly. Though he must admit, the shock in Gladioâs eyes and the way his mouth gaped open like one of those fish Noctis enjoyed catching was quite gratifying.
âWaitâŚâ Gladio said slowly, âis that why youâve been acting so weird?â
Ignis blushed. âYes.â
Gladio laughed, but there was no mockery in his tone. âIggy, you are one confusing man.â
âI prefer âmysteriousâ,â Ignis retorted with a hint of his customary smirk.
âSo⌠about that kiss,â Gladio said.
âYes?â Ignis leaned forward.
Gladioâs grin broadened and challenge flashed in those molten amber eyes.
Ignis quirked a perfectly manicured eyebrow and rolled his eyes. It was fair enough, he supposed, that he be the one to make the first physical move; heâd already played his hand and this seemed to be the confirmation heâd been hoping for.
He moved into Gladioâs space until only a breath existed between their faces, then lifted a hand to gently stroke Gladioâs messy, sweaty hair back from his suntanned face. Ignis made deliberate eye contact, willing his emotions to show in his gaze; desperate to see them mirrored in Gladioâs own.
And then he pressed his lips to Gladioâs and nothing else mattered.
